Badereader has a well deserved reputation for just making things up. Like a fortune teller, a very few of them turn out to be correct. Most people here have given up on getting anything useful there and refuse to give them any clicks. (They also frequently take information from mobileread and elsewhere and palm it off as their own.)

Interesting. 1.5 second page turn would be fast enough for me in return for improved color saturation and contrast. That was about the speed for e-ink 15 years ago and is faster, easier, and more comfortable than turning a paper page.

ACeP aka Gallery 3 is only for retail signage, and while its colour range and brightness in ambient light is far better than Kaleido it's still very poor, like PC High Colour rather than PC True Colour.

What's a Kindle prediction got to do with an Apple product Prediction?

I'd not bet that Amazon isn't going to do a colour eink, because they've made mistakes on products before. Anyone got an Amazon phone?

More likely to bring out a premium tablet.

I think the only future for color ink is retail signage.

Not if you had a TCL Nxtpaper 11. And there is nothing about it that anyone else couldn't achieve, perhaps with slightly different materials. It's simply that the screen surface and layers on almost all tablets, TVs, and monitors are appallingly bad and cheap compared to high end professional CRT monitors over 20 years ago with matt surface dark glass on top (over 40 years ago) or as the faceplace (25 years ago). Though always rare.

Eink for mono text, like reading a novel, can't be equalled though you can get close.

That is typically true, but the ebook reader site has posted about it as well. People on reddit are talking about it but Mod seems to have taken exception to the whole thing and has indicated may have to censor that website as well, lol.

Given BADeReader's past history (how many times did they announce the Voyage 2?), I generally tend to look at their predictions as being automatically false clickbait. Nathan Hoffelder's eBook Reader site has been a lot more conservative and accurate.

As far as I can tell the posts about this on various sites and blogs all end up referring back to a single post on a Chinese tech news site that references an off-hand comment made by an expert on Apple products.

Agreed but his site does not seem to cover tech news as much as it once did. Interesting articles are posted, but not much as far as e-reader tech news goes.

Ya like how many times did they say we are getting a new oasis as a 100% fact then never happened. They banned me for i kept calling them out lol i can still post as long as i use a different ISP and that pisses them off

He says:

The only company that I'm aware of with the pull to get custom sizes of eink panels is Amazon. I really doubt reMarkable is going to be able to negotiate anything except for standard 10.3/13.3 inch panels like every other brand that is not Amazon.

Given the slow ereader/enote sales, I would have to say that at this time, Walmart has much more pull than Amazon. The majority of EInk's products are now shelf label devices and not ereaders. The first batch that Walmart ordered for 500 American stores was 60,000,000 devices and that has been expanded to all Walmart locations in the USA. In Canada, the ~400 Walmart stores according to one report have already rolled out ~46,000,000 shelf label devices. How many ereaders does everyone sell in total over a year?

Not to mention that historically, B&N and Kobo have both had time limited exclusives on eInk panels used in their ereaders.
