Today it's back out of stock, and also is no longer shown in the navbar. It does show up in the main Kindle landing page. Before it has still showed in the navbar, just with no price listed.

True, but it means you're not definitely stuck with Amazon, and maybe you can get ahold of that information before buying. And it's not impossible that a new jailbreak will be developed that works with all existing firmware--I mean with the latest jailbreak, up until November all Kindles could be jailbroken.

And by up until November, I mean up until the November update, which not all Kindles were likely to get, for one reason or another (already shipped out of the factory etc.)
