Well, that's hardly surprising. (Didn't you tell us there were hints about that a while back?)

Not right now, but today, after back from the Farmers' Markets, we went to go out on the upstairs balcony for a rest and a drink. We changed our minds though:

We called the snake catcher, who came around in about an hour, and took him/her a hundred metres up the hill and let him loose in the National Park:

It had a couple of large lumps in it, so it'd not long had a feed, probably of some parrots or maybe the bush rats we've found under the balcony. Big bugger, probably about 2 metres (though the snake catcher says he picked up one at Tewantin that had taken a cat).

Excitement. Beautiful animal.

Cheers,
Marc

Fascinating. We only have dog catchers, and I haven't seen one of those for a long time. What kind of snake was it, or did I miss something?

WDE. (Living where cold blooded animals have a harder time surviving)

*edit * Nice pics

By the slits in its eyes could one deduce it was venomous? What kind is it?

I like the top part of your chair backs BTW.

How did the snake get up to the balcony? It looked like it was having such a nice nap after its big meal -- it seems a shame to disturb him/her. Just kidding! Did you get your drink afterwards?!

He or she is a Carpet Python. They grow to about 2.5-3 metres and are pretty common. We had a smaller one on our bottom balcony a few months ago, but just let it be as it could easily find it's way into the garden again.

Not venemous, and with backward facing fangs. They're pretty safe, except to smaller animals.

The chairs are just some teak bought from a local furniture place specialising in SE Asian stuff. I like them and, being teak, expect them to last a long time.

Cheers,
Marc

It probably climbed one of the palms on the other side of the house and then came across the lower roof (flat) to the balcony.

I wouldn't be me if I missed my drink

Cheers,
Marc

Marc- the first few of the pictures I you posted I thought were house catalog pictures. Your place is beautiful

Back to the snake, I would have just put him back under the porch if I had rats and no small pets. I love snakes, but rats....

Probably about that long. I do hope it's not a lot longer than that.

Cats?? They eat CATS?? Bad snake!!! BAD!!!

Man, your house looks like something out of a magazine. Way to enforce the stereotype, Marc.

Oh yes .... backstory in a nutshell. I moved out to Texas because I rescue handicapped, old, and chronically ill cats. I also rescue dogs, but to a lesser extent.

When I first looked at this house, I told the people how many cats I had, and that I intended to rescue more. Everyone says that will be fine and dandy, despite a restriction in the covenants.

Time passes. The developer is not doing the common area maintenance we are paying him to do. I complain. It still doesn't get done. I keep complaining.

Finally, I get a letter from him telling me to take my animals to a shelter (where they will not be adopted because of their problems), and will be euthanized (murdered) immediately.

So, we go to court. I am suing him for 7.5M, based on any number of causes of action, including land fraud.

He recently sent me a "settlement offer" .... which is essentially "you get the hell out of town, and take your cats with you." I told him to go F himself.

And ..... that's it in a nutshell.
