Edit: I was confused! Corrections made You have to connect to calibre twice to have collection(s) [series and subtitle] for a particular ebook or PDF. Always make sure you are at My Books or Home before connecting USB and WiFi is off. Always wait for Kobo to finish before disconnecting USB. Steps 1) Connect to Calibre by inserting USB cable and tapping Connect. 2) First time the book is sent. 3) Eject and wait! 4) The book(s) imports (black screen with bargraph). 5) My Books, Unread, Recent shortly later shows the new books in the Kobo database. 6) Disconnect cable. You will not find the new books in any collections. [No series or subtitles are added yet] 7) Reconnect cable and connect to Calibre by inserting USB cable and tapping Connect. 8) Second Time. The Metadata in the Kobo database can be updated with collections, series and subtitle. 9) Eject and wait! 10) The book(s) imports (black screen with bargraph). This doesn't appear if no books added. 11) My Books, Unread, Recent shortly later shows the new books in the Kobo database if any were added. Series and Subtitle information added to previously sent ebooks. 12) Disconnect cable. You will find the previously sent ebooks in collections, but not any (if sent at all) new ones. This hasn't changed in years. Maybe the only addition is subtitles. Nickle menu can automate some of this, but the ebooks author, title, publisher and comment/Blurb data only import to the Kobo database when USB is disconnected. The ebook doesn't contain the Collections list Calibre adds series and subtitle to an existing ebook record in the Kobo database on a subsequent connection. There is no difference between the Libra 2 and Elipsa or Elipsa 2 for Authors, Title, Publisher info, Comments, Collection(s) or subtitle when sending ebooks. Your experience must be very different to mine. My Collections are always set correctly after the first USB connection, i.e. the initial book import.

In case there's any confusion, I was talking about Collections on a Kobo. Collections don't need a 2nd USB connection to calibre on my Kobos. Series, Subtitle, ISBN *do* need a 2nd connection, but Collections don't.
A few days ago I tested and verified the above before posting in a similar MR thread. Did you? |

So, everyone agrees, there is a problem with the collection appearing when an ebook is downloaded onto the Kobo Elipsa 2e.
So where does this problem come from: the Kobo Elipsa, or Calibre? |
