sigh. I always wanted an AGA, but you don't get to see a lot of them here in the States and nobody in their right mind would want one where I live, where the prevalent climate is high desert (HOT HOT HOT) rather than the typical UK weather and temps. more sighing.

I compensated for it a bit with a big-a$$ gas oven/range, Viking, for the log house (you guys may remember) and a soapstone surround/walls for the fireplaces that you could also use as overnight cooktops (awesome on oats!), but still...not an AGA.

@Hitch - my ex-wife's sister has the French equivalent of an AGA. Can't remember the brand, might begin with L. It's huge, needed a crane to install it on their covered outside entertainment area… which is likewise huge. He said it cost almost as much as 'her' Tesla Y.

It's 11:00am and already 96°F so I doubt they'll be baking spuds today.

Aside: my ex-wife is also my best friend.

According to the Guardian, the Aga's time has passed. I remembered reading this article when it came out in 2022, when the Aga hit the hundred-year mark. Outdated tech.

If we didn't live in the USA equivalent of Alice Springs, BR, I'd have gone with the Aga years ago, I don't care what anyone says, "outdated tech" my narrow old butt. I adored that soapstone surround/fireplace...still the best "overnight oats" ever. (And sure, you could argue that the method of applying the heat to the oats to cook them is moot, but, whatev.)

It's just...nah, when it really is so hot here, six full months of the year, then an Aga is nuts. it's perfect for the northern European environment, it really is. It's human technology, in many ways, at its finest for the purpose. Just..wouldn't work here very well.

I admit, it's hard to know here whether I should say "congratulations," or "Im sorry to hear that"? Or...both?

Whichever is appropriate. The former seems indicated, but one never knows....

I feel ya! When I walk to another room, Pixie cat likes to suddenly dash through my feet (while I'm walking) and race me there - having your lifted foot hit by a fast moving chonky cat really tests your reflexes.

My youngest cat who is blind likes doing this also. Intentionally, not because he can't see. You'd think a blind cat would be naturally more cautious... nope. He's the most reckless of all the cats I've had. Jumps and climbs everywhere.

I have a cold. It started on Sunday with an itchy throat and it has now progressed to the stage of a very runny nose and sinus pain.

To add to the fun I hurt my back whilst sneezing last night. So I didn't get much sleep during the night. I'm going to make a cup of tea and take it very easy today.

I'm prone to sinus infections so every cold is an unwelcome ordeal for me. The lack of sleep from constant panic-waking from not being able to breathe makes me feel like I'm slowly going insane.

With me it usually starts with my throat. Although this time it isn't as bad. A bit sore from two days of coughing, but I'm still able to swallow without pain.

Normally I can sleep okay breathing through my mouth, but if I'm wheezing (like last night) or snoring I wake myself up.

It seems it's going fast, so hopefully I feel well enough on Thursday or Friday to run the errands I had planned to do today.

OHEMGEE, yes.

I'm that way with cooking blogs that harass me and chase me with unwanted videos, popup ads, those thingies at the bottom (thirds?), and all that.

If I can't immediately and easily see a way to put those down/away, that's it. I'll never come back. I won't click your affiliate links, on purpose. It's ...infuriating. They wanna pop up that "third" thing (or whatever it is)?

Fine. We all gotta eat, but BYGOD, then you better let me instantly and immediately put it AWAY for the rest of my damned visit. Pop it up 5x more, and NOPE (once more, really for me, but I'm remarkably intolerant), that's it for you and me.

There are about two, total, on-the-net cooking blogs that are actually unique, where I would honestly go back, even grinding my teeth about it--every other cooking blog known to The Internet is just re-spewing someone else's cooking and recipe ideas. I can find whatever you are peddling, someplace else that will be more respectful of me as a visitor.

I'm not asking for NO ads, no videos, no thirds--but have the decency to let me put them away and ENJOY your site, if it's not too much to ask. (I also really dislike that cooking-blog-network thing that has the floating hearts and stuff? AGHGHGHGHGH!)
