The UK books I purchased from Kobo were from Big Five publishers (Penguin UK and Hachette UK). I would bet the HB books would be handled the same way. But then, I'm not the one with money at risk, so easy for me to make assumptions

Could this not be resolved just by setting up a "burner" Kobo account long enough to redeem the books, download them, and run them through de-DRM? They wouldn't necessarily need to travel through your primary Kobo account.

The UK edition is coming out soon, and Jared has hinted it will have a few small updates in his own introductions to each section, so I don't know if you want to wait for that.

FWIW I was able to use my company's VPN endpoint in the US to purchase the Discworld series via Humble Bundle.

Our VPN is in google cloud. Perhaps they only block "known" commercial VPN endpoints.

I don't have an account on humble bundle, and was able to checkout with just my email address. The checkout process just spun on Chrome so I killed that tab and did the same checkout on Safari which worked.

So maybe sign out and/or try another browser?

I thought I had this already, but then I checked my Kobo books and realized it was The Well of the Unicorn instead.

Nice find! Thanks! Maybe it will give me an excuse to watch the movie again for the first time in like 30 years. The original author wrote the screenplay, IIRC.
