The Fresco by Sheri S. Tepper is $2 at Amazon, B&N and Kobo US.

Quote:
An Albuquerque bookseller is caught up in an intergalactic drama when aliens choose her as messenger of their wisdom in this feminist sci-fi novel.

The bizarre events that have been occurring across the United States—unexplained “oddities” tracked by Air Defense, mysterious disappearances, shocking deaths—seem to have no bearing on Benita Alvarez-Shipton’s life. That is, until the soft-spoken thirty-six-year-old bookstore manager is approached by a pair of aliens asking her to transmit their message of peace to the powers in Washington.

An abused Albuquerque wife with low self-esteem, Benita has been chosen to act as the sole liaison between the human race and the Pistach, who have offered their human hosts a spectacular opportunity for knowledge and enrichment.

But ultimately Benita will be called upon to do much more than deliver messages—and may, in fact, be responsible for saving the Earth. Because the Pistach are not the only space-faring species currently making their presence known on her unsuspecting planet. And the others are not so benevolent.

Moonseed by Stephen Baxter is $2 at Amazon, B&N and Kobo US. I have read Moonseed a while back and really enjoyed it.

This is listed as part of the NASA Trilogy (along with Voyage and Titan). This is a trilogy of themes only. Each is a stand-alone novel with no continuing characters or situations (in fact, the situations in the books would contradict each other).

Quote:
It came here decades ago—and it’s devouring our planet: “Literally earth-shattering action . . . Baxter provides the sense of wonder of classic science fiction.” —Denver Post

It starts when Venus explodes into a brilliant cloud of dust and debris, showering Earth with radiation and bizarre particles that wipe out all the crops and half the life in the oceans, and fry the ozone layer. Days later, a few specks of moon rock kicked up from the last Apollo mission fall upon a lava crag in Scotland. That’s all it takes . . .

Suddenly, the ground itself begins melting into pools of dust that grow larger every day. For what has demolished Venus, and now threatens Earth itself, is part machine, part life-form: a nano-virus, dubbed Moonseed, that attacks planets.

Four scientists are all that stand between Moonseed and Earth’s extinction, four brilliant minds that must race to cut off the virus and save what’s left of Earth—a pulse-stopping battle for discovery that will lead them from Earth’s inner core to a daredevil Moon voyage that could save, or damn, us all.

Moonseed is a standout novel from Stephen Baxter, author of The Time Ships and recipient of multiple BSFA, Philip K. Dick, and Sidewise Awards.

Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham is £0.99 on Amazon UK
As discussed before, this is the original edition.

Of interest is Daniel Ryon Sweet's Master of Arts thesis Addressing the "Wyndham Problem": A Versioned Approach to Textual Variation in John Wyndham's Postwar Novels (PDF) which describes the reasons for these changes (some made by Wyndham himself, with the encouragement of with his US editor Walter I. Bradbury and agent Frederik Pohl.)

The Winnowing Flame Trilogy by Jen Williams is $1.99 at Amazon US and Kobo US.

I don't know anything about this except that two of the novels won the British Fantasy Award and that it's on sale.

Well, now I know how I'm filling out a Discworld collection. I might have to actually start reading it:

Humble Bundle has 38 Discworld books for $18.

I'm really interested in whether this is a complete set of Pratchett's discworld books. I must confess I'm not too interested in another argument about what order to read them in. :P

Edit: A quick wiki answered my question. This contains all of the novels except the Last Hero (presumably because it's illustrated?) and the last two (Raising Steam & The Shepherd's Crown)

Hmmm, only 12 books I don't already own. Still pretty good at $1.50 per book.

Apparently not available in the UK. I have got round this in the past using a VPN, but as it's fulfilled via Kobo, I'd be worried about messing up my Kobo account.

ETA: The restriction is via Humble Bundle; as soon as you log in, it applies even when you're using a VPN. If it was a straight download (which it has been in the past), it's OK to log in as a guest.

After using a VPN, you can change your location in the settings, with some limitations: https://www.humblebundle.com/user/settings

If someone in the UK can confirm this works without messing up their Kobo account, I will do this. When I've been hit with HB georestrictions in the past, it only involved a VPN, PayPal and a direct download without going through Kobo. It's the Kobo download that concerns me; I don't want to purchase the bundle if it's impossible to download it.

I'm not in the UK or the US and managed to get a previous "redeem with kobo" region-locked bundle.
I even forgot to checkmark a few of the books when redeeming and Kobo (a really anti-user process), and the support team helped me resolve it.

Not exactly the same, but I live in the US and have purchased books from Kobo only available in the UK. When I go to My Books, all books purchased from the US and UK show up together as my books.

I see previous purchased US editions from Humble Bundle in my Kobo account, but those bundles weren't geo-restricted (Mercedes Lackey, Tad Williams, Seanan McGuire). Unlike the others, the Pratchett bundle is geo-locked, and when HB has previously geo-locked, the bundles were available via a direct download link rather than via Kobo.

My guess it's a Big Five requirement to fulfil via Kobo; I think the previous geo-locked bundles were small press.
