I saw an advert/listing for the BP one, which I willingly passed on (Beyond Paradise is NOT doing it for me, TBH, in any way, manner, shape or form) but bupkus for DIP Xmas. Sigh. That's the first time I remember. It could be that I just somehow missed it but...don't think so.

Ralf whoosie-whatsits is actually my favorite Fish-outta-water detective since the first one. Ah, well, I'm sure it will show up eventually!

Well, that's weird. I just went to BritBox and it seems to have it now. I guaran-damn-tee you, it wasn't there Xmas day or Boxing day.

Curiouser and curiouser. I will watch it likely tonight and shall report back.

Wednesday night I started watching On the Town (1949) on my dvr. I had recorded it from public television months ago. About an hour into it I got the loud noise of testing of emergency broadcast system with orange band across the top of the screen. Had to turn it off and turn on my streaming from Fire TV Cube.

I started watching White Christmas (have watched many times over the years) and after a half hour or so decided I didn't want to keep watching right now (although it is going off of Netflix after the 31st). I watched The Bishop's Wife on Prime. After the was over I went back to White Christmas and later realized I still had another hour left and I went to bed.

I finished watching On the Town Thursday evening. Had to reboot the cable box first, because the emergency testing the night before messed it up, no picture or sound. After a few minutes, it froze (from the test), so I had to turn it off and then on and fast forward past that spot.

Ayup, the S. 13-ish 2023 Xmas Special for DIP (Death in Paradise) is there on BritBox. Huzzah, if it's part of your annual holiday watching.

nb.: It's NOT a locked room mystery!!!! I mean...a mystery, yes. But not a locked room at all. Very odd.

New Year's eve I watched Love Actually and finished watching White Christmas that I'd started a few days ago.

We watched the Beckham on Netflix and we really enjoyed it, even if we're not into football/soccer.

Tonight when cross stitching I'm going to start over again with Murder at the End of the World, I did watch the first two episodes when they were released, but with everything going on I didn't continue even though I really liked it so far. Since it's been a while I'll watch the first two episodes again.

Not sure what I'm going to watch with my sister tonight, we still have the second season of Vox Machina and the second half of the final season of Doom Patrol to watch. But she also said she wanted to watch Everything Everywhere All At Once, which I've already seen, but wouldn't mind watching it again.

We watched Leave the World Behind on Netflix tonight. It was an okay film, except the end. My sister and I did not agree with this ending.

It ended without a real end. It felt like there was more of the story left to tell. It wasn't even a cliff hanger to set up for a sequel, the end credits just started to roll without resolving any of the story threads.

So now I'm just ticked off.

Dunno if any of you good folks noticed, and I also don't know how many of you are going to give it another shot, (I'm equivocating) but the newest Father Brown, S.11, will arrive on Britbox, Tuesday January 23rd, with two episodes.

Unfortunately, it appears that the two S. 10 female sidekicks are still there, and I did not see any sign of Lady (whatever his first name is? Do we know) Montague (sp?) (aka "Lady Felicia"), the old Irish Housekeeper, or Sid. (sigh).

Thus, offered FWIW.

We liked Cracker too. Talk about "flawed detective", he had all the bases covered.

We watched another good Scottish show Crime - Dougray Scott and Ken Stott.

Also S24 of Midsomer which is starting to seem like they're just phoning it in.

A decent Quebec show Judgement.

A few episodes of Richard Wilson's old sitcom One Foot in the Grave. I don't watch many British comedies but keep hoping there might be another Keeping Up Appearances hiding out there somewhere.

S3 of Astrid, where she continues to take both baby steps and giant strides toward fulfilling her potential. I'm sure a lot of people find it cheesy but we love the characters, especially William's support group of brilliant misfits. I didn't think the cases were as good as S2, and writing a bit sloppy but still a favorite.

Now starting S7-8 of Candice Renoir...

Yeah, Mr. H and I have been working our way slowly through the Harry Potters. Not sure why my brain "thinks" that HP constitutes Xmas/Holiday movies, but then again, I put on Die Hard every year at Xmas so I am clearly bonkers.

I was thinking how much I missed Robbie Coltrane and some of the others that are gone...I really really miss Alan Rickman's work, of course; Coltraine (ditto) and Richard Harris...Richard Griffiths passed too, didn't he? (Loved him as the restaurant-owning detective! Um...Pie in the Sky?) and another one or two that I'm forgetting...

sigh.

I agree on MM. They have been phoning it in for some seasons now, and all we get are what, a whopping four whole episodes? Urgh. They did six epis for a while and then, boom, back to four.

(Granted, there's no real comparison here, but I compare that, 4 "whole" episodes per season, at 90 minutes each, to the first IDK-how-many seasons of the old Perry Mason. Over 30 episodes, 39 for season 1, if you want to be precise, 40 minutes each, for the first season; 30 for the second...sheesh.)
