Kindle Basic stuck on KOReader screen saver and not rebooting.
I managed to jailbreak it using the latest jailbreak for FW 5.15.1.1
I've tried holding the power button for 20, 40 seconds, the device is still not rebooting. It seems to be stuck in sleep mode or something I've attached a picture |

Can you ssh in and kill the koreader process?
Does it make sense to set up the ssh access upon system start so apps like this one could be killed if they don't cooperate? |

A hard-reboot attempt not doing *anything* is fairly suspicious. Keep in mind the long-long-press is actually a hard *poweroff*, not a hard *reboot*. You'll want to follow with a tamer long press to actually power it back on.
What happens if you plug it to a *wall* charger? @arooni: Irrelevant, if the device is in suspend or hibernation, well, it's in suspend or hibernation, it's dead to the world until awoken. Last edited by NiLuJe; 12-23-2023 at 12:06 AM. |

When plugged to a wall charger the device simply starts charging but it stays in sleep mode.
The constant long press of the power button ended up draining the battery as the screen's lights kept flashing. It switched off and i let it charge back up to the point it could switch on again. That's how it came back to life. Could it be related to KOReader remaining opened for days? I hardly ever close it unless i wanna grab screenshots/send files through Kual file browser |

I did the same but kept mine pressed more than 2 minutes (20 seconds solved nothing). Somehow i ended up with the battery low icon on the screen instead of what's on the picture i upload. I let the device charge, 5 ~ 7 minutes later it switched itself on normally. I'm on FW 5.16.2.1.1 |

Userland has no say in the matter once the device is in suspend or hibernation, so KOReader should be an absolute non-factor here (especially on Kindle, where we don't handle *any* power management, everything's deferred to the native system, so it behaves exactly as usual).

This doesn’t warrant anything unless you check full battery capacity and compare against designed value.

maybe if you wait for the battery to die, then maybe it can "turn on"... good luck
