I searched for a way to remove the jailbreak, just to make sure that I am in a clean state. I found a post that said to restore to factory and install the official software afterwards. I believe it actually needs to be an update, so a newer version of the software. Since I'm already on the latest firmware that supports the jailbreak, I can't do that. I tried with the same version and then proceeded to try the jailbreak again. I managed to get to the language select menu in the first try, with pseudot included. The kindle, however, restarted without any log messages and entered into chinese demo mode, at the wifi and store registration. After that I did a DO_FACTORY_RESTORE to get back to a normal English version. So that is the state I am in right now. Is there anything more I can try to make sure I am in a clean state, so that I can try jailbreaking again? Also, if I managed to get to the correct language select menu and chose Chinese, should the log messages definitely appear. Or is there a chance that the jailbreak will fail from this point? |

Since I couldn't reinstall Languagebreak normally, I thought I'd try installing Kual and Koreader again. Kual is now present in the library and in its menu there is also Koreader, which however does not open and therefore is not functional. I don't know if it's because I couldn't run the Marek and NiLuJe hotfixes because the Update your Kindle feature is disabled on my Kindle for some reason. Would it be possible to run these hotfixes using ;log mrpi in the search bar? In this case, should I put the hotfixes in the Kindle's mrpackages folder?

I installed RenameOTAbin and launched it through KUAL, then:
> Rename OTA binaries > "Rename" then Kindle rebooted to splashscreen. Can someone confirm this procedure is enough to prevent auto-updates from Amazon? I noticed some people mention "KUAL Helper" too, is that necessary to install? I can't find any centralized thread about this. Also, is there a way to verify that updates are off? Cheers |

Should I also install the NiLuJe hotfix with mrpi or should I be satisfied with the current state? Currently my only problem is that the Update your Kindle option remains grayed out and not clickable. I installed renameotabin by pressing Restore in the hope that the Updates would be restored, but unfortunately it didn't help. |

Need help. My english is very bad.
I Jailbroken my 11th generation Kindle Paperwhite. With firmware 5.15.1 I did it using the click once method. It seems like everything was ok. I haven't tried installing koreader yet. My problem is that the kindle won't let me turn on airplane mode or reset the device. How do I resolve this? For this reason, Kindle updated to version 5.16.4 ![]() |

Unfortunately, I get the message here are the files i see in my explorer: Code:

The following instructions from language break should help. ### Unregistered kindle 1. Enter `;demo` into the search bar 2. Press the right button 3. The device will say that its "entering demo", but will actually reset into normal mode in English 4. After this check if you have an mkk folder on your kindle - if it's missing reinstall then hotfix and have fun ![]() ### Registered kindle 1. Enter `;enter_demo` into the search bar 2. Reboot your device 3. The device will be in full demo mode so do the setup without wifi and with random values 4. Do the secret gesture to get into the kindle UI 5. Enter `;demo` into the search bar 6. Choose `Resell device` and press `Resell/Yes` 7. The device will actually reset into normal mode in English 4. After this check if you have an mkk folder on your kindle - if it's missing reinstall then hotfix and have fun ![]() Good luck. |

thank you captdog!
thank you Marek! i much appreciate the help here Quote:
unfortunately i kept trying out things and at some point i managed to reset my kindle. meaning that all the contents got erased. starting from a fresh kindle i follow the instructions, but i am not getting anywhere. specifically after step 12: Code:
12. After all files have been written, eject your Kindle, then press and hold the power button until the unit reboots. it doesn't reboot into the select language screen. the only difference i can think of between now and the first time, is that my kindle isn't setup (no amazon account, content or anything else) do you think this is related? the other thing i can think of is that i am messing up the step 10, 11, 12 in some weird way. Code:
10. As soon as the "Press the Power Button" screen appears, plug your Kindle back into your computer. (This is time sensitive, be quick.) 11. Copy the contents of the LanguageBreak folder to the Kindle's root directory, again. (if prompted, overrwrite the existing files). 12.After all files have been written, eject your Kindle, then press and hold the power button until the unit reboots. I copy-paste the full folder from the release meaning all these files: Code:
.demo documents patchedUks.sqsh jb DONT_CHECK_BATTERY and then i press the power button until the screen goes white (just before it restarts) and then i release. any and all ideas welcome! ![]() (what am I doing wrong or what else i can try) for reference: this is the setup screen i am referring to: https://imgur.com/a/mAFyngt the empty kindle has these files: Code:
audible documents fonts voice Code:
.demo audible documents fonts voice patchedUks.sqsh jb DONT_CHECK_BATTERY |

The reason why you can’t see language menu anymore is probably because JB is installed, but now you need to install both hotfixes.
If this doesn’t work neither via mrpi and Update Your Kindle, then you need to start over. 1) Factory reset 2) Install the JB-aupported FW again. You need something less than or equal to 5.16.1.1. You can start from 5.15.1. 3) Try this: when you need to copy files the second time (after Resell), copy all files except .demo . This way you won’t get stuck in demo again. |
