Tutorial LanguageBreak - Software Jailbreak for (probably) any Kindle <=

Thanks shamanNS, through your advice I managed to "resell" the device and go back to normal mode. But now when I go to the library I can no longer find Kual and therefore I can't even access Koreader and Renameotabin. However, on the Kindle the Languagebreak, Kual and Koreader files appear to be present, as can be seen from the attached image. What would be the best procedure to restore Languagebreak, Kual and Koreader? Reset the device and start all over from point 1 of the instructions?

Make sure you have Airplane turned ON (no Wi-Fi!)
Install Hotfix from NiLuJe again via Update Your Kindle.
Do restart Kindle TWICE in a row. Second time you shouldn’t see any messages below the boy under the tree.
Then install KUAL again via ;log mrpi.

Everything else should be good.

I copied NiLuJe's Update_jailbreak_hotfix_1.16.N_install to the Kindle root, then safely removed the Kindle, but the "Update Your Kindle" option appears gray and unselectable. Only the Restart, Reset and Device options are selectable. Could it be because "Your Account" is in unregistered state? Unfortunately to register it it asks me to exit Airplane mode.

Nope, stay in Airplane mode.

Try doing the LanguageBreak again from Step 1.
However, the second time you need to copy the files (after Resell), copy everything expect the .demo folder.

See if it brings you to the normal mode after you select Simplified Chinese.

Then do Marek's hotfix, then all steps in my post above again.

If I understand, I have to repeat steps 1 to 19 of the Jailbreak (but after Resell I have to copy everything except the .demo folder); then steps 1 to 5 Post Jailbreak.

Before starting from point 1 (;enter_demo) should I delete NiLuJe's Update_jailbreak_hotfix_1.16.N_install currently present in the Kindle root?

Greetings everybody, after almost 3 panic attacks because of how frustrating is it to have the whole kindle in Chinese, stuck in demo mode, without any way to change language, factory reset, or re-sell because of the "DONT_CHECK_BATTERY" was not present.
Today is a good day, I managed to jailbreak my Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition 11th Gen on version 14.3.0.1, which I think is the best version right now.
Correct me if wrong.

So I'm going to re-post the tutorial in which I used a different approach that's available on the first page along with some pictures, maybe it will be useful for somebody.

Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (11th Generation)
5.14.3.0.1 (3838590001)

Backup everything, always, never know, just copy the content of your kindle and put it in a desktop folder so you can preserve your books and some settings.

0. AIRPLANE MODE ON, AT ALL COSTS!

1. Type ;enter_demo in the Kindle search bar (KINDLE IN CUSTOMER MODE)
2. Reboot the device
3. Once in demo mode, skip setting up wifi and enter random values for store registration
*(1 letter store name; 3 numbers for store number and postalcode)
4. Skip searching for a demo payload and Select the only whole-screen "standard" demo type available
6. Press "Done" at the prompt to sideload content, just to skip this.
7. Once the demo is setup, do the "secret gesture" (double finger tap on bottom right of screen then swipe left, it will require multiple attempts, lookup for a video on youtube if you find this impossible and frustrating.)
8. Enter the demo configuration menu by typing ;demo into the search bar
9. Select the "Sideload Content" option, plug your usb into your Kindle & Computer

Now it is time to prepare your reflexes and speed abilites to it's finest. Memorize those steps and do it the quickier you can.

10. Copy the contents of the LanguageBreak folder to the Kindle, merging and replacing all files (There may be no files to replace, this is just for you to know.)
11. Unplug the USB cable of your kindle and go back to the demo menu
12. Start copying the LanguageBreak folder content EXCEPT ".demo" folder
13. Select the "Resell Device" option with the cable slightly unplugged from Kindle/PC, so that you can quickly re-insert it, beware that it doesn't make any contact with the USB hub! I personally kept it attached to my pc, and slightly prepared at the entrance of my Kindle USB port.
14. And press Yes/Resell

Hopefully you prepared yourself, NOW IT'S THE TIME! GOTTA GO FAST!

15. In between 3-5 seconds Kindle will show you the "PRESS POWER BUTTON TO START"
16. As soon as it appears plug your kindle and paste everything except ".demo" folder as instructed at step 12., overwrite files then safely eject but

DO NOT UNPLUG THE USB CABLE!

16. Hold the power button as instructed on screen again
17. You should be in a language selection menu in a few seconds
18. Choose Chinese (简体中文) (The one above the odd Pseudot language)
18. I personally picked up English language because thought that the Jailbreak failed and had to start again from step 1, because PSEUDOT... was missing.

19. Your kindle should reboot and you should see some log message on the screen, that's what surprisingly happened!

I've seen some rows text in the top left, jailbroken.

After I've turned it on, I installed the hotfix as instructed by @mergen3107, update from kindle, restart twice, first restart brought up * LOG * and the second restart brought up only the kid and the tree, it went through flawlessly, I guess I am really jailbroken on my Kindle.. am I?

> Rename OTA binaries > "Rename"
then Kindle rebooted to splashscreen.

Is that the whole procedure? I can't find any other info.
Is there a way to make sure it worked?

Update:

I wanted to test ;log mrpi but it says it is NOT installed (ofc)
Then the screen went blank and couldn't see anything, is this related because I've inverted the colours of the screen in accessibility? A restart fixed the issue but that's counting 4 panics in 2 days

I jailbroke my PW4 with 5.16.2.1.1 (updating previosly from a 5.16.2.1 firmware) and I had to try jailbreak from demo mode several times. Now, after jailbreak, everytime I reboot device it takes a long time and create this log "book".

Main errors I found are:

Quick update on renameOTAbin:
1) I have been using my JB’ed Kindle Scribe on Wi-Fi non-stop since December 3.

How do you disable amazon logging? And how do you get more options in KUAL - Helper? All I see is the installer. Do I need an additional KUAL extension? Sorry, completely new to this

Short story: I bought a Kindle, I Jaibreak it, I then activated WiFi thinking that the Jailbreak would cut the automatic updates, it was my big mistake!
Amazon upgraded me to 5.16.4 without asking for confirmation. Nothing was working anymore, exept that I still had the "**** JAILBREAK ****" message at startup.
Here's how I got the jailbreak to work again (based on mergen3107 11-22-2023 #484 method)

Download NiLuJe's K5 Jailbreak package here

At the end of the file you should find those lines:

Just before those line add this (thank you Marek):

sed -i -E "1 s/(-)([0-9]+)$/\1${VER}/g" "/etc/version.txt"

Copy all these files to the root of the Kindle:

bridge.conf
bridge.sh
emergency.sh
RUNME.sh

Restart. The files will normally have disappeared, and you will have a file /mnt/us/version.txt.backup
Now you can downgrade the firmware to the version that works well for Jailbreak, the Kindle will accept the previous firmware.
One downgraded your system is a little bit messy, you should still have some feature from the last upgrade, so apply a factory reset.
I did it once again to clear out things (upgrade again to the same version, then factory reset)! Not sure this was necessary!
You now have a brand-new system, ready to be Jailbreaked again!

Kindly I need your support where I'm in same situation, successfully JB PW5, but once connected WIFI FW updated to ver 5.16.5, and followed your steps to downgrade it but no luck, in addition to 4 copied files to root directory not disappeared after restart kindle, and got error message about home feed error, something like that and error message disappeared immediately,

Any suggestion from your side.

You can use my extension.
I am also completely new to this.

In NiLuJe’s Snapshots thread, there is KUAL+ package. I think this gives you more options in Helper, I don’t remember (I always install it )
