On the literary side of the genre.

Got it!

Thank you.

A literary novel disguised as Sci-Fi: I love it.

Sir Hereward and Mister Fitz by Garth Nix is $2 in the US. (Kobo, Amazon)
A collection of all previously-published stories featuring these characters, with a new one at the end. Was on my wishlist.
Gary K. Wolfe calls them "[one of the] most prominent current descendants" of the Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser stories.
Quote:
Sir Hereward: the only male child of an ancient society of witches. Knight, artillerist, swordsman. Mercenary for hire. Ill-starred lover.

Mister Fitz: puppet, sorcerer, loremaster. Practitioner of arcane arts and wielder of sorcerous needles.

Sir Hereward and Mister Fitz: godslayers. Agents of the Council of the Treaty for the Safety of the World, charged with the location and removal of listed extra-dimensional entities, more commonly known as gods.

Together, they are relentless travelers in a treacherous world of magic, gunpowder, and adventure.

Compiled for the first time ever, these eight magical stories—plus an all-new tale, “The Field of Fallen Foe”—featuring fabulous, quintessential Garth Nix protagonists Sir Hereward and Mister Fitz comprise a must-have adult fantasy collection for fans and those about to discover the witch knight and his puppet sorcerer for the first time.

The Deep Sky by Yume Kitasei is $3 in the US (Kobo, Amazon)
Quote:
An enthralling sci fi thriller debut about a mission into deep space that begins with a lethal explosion that leaves the survivors questioning the loyalty of the crew.

They left Earth to save humanity. They’ll have to save themselves first.

It is the eve of Earth’s environmental collapse. A single ship carries humanity’s last hope: eighty elite graduates of a competitive program, who will give birth to a generation of children in deep space. But halfway to a distant but livable planet, a lethal bomb kills three of the crew and knocks The Phoenix off course. Asuka, the only surviving witness, is an immediate suspect.

As the mystery unfolds on the ship, poignant flashbacks reveal how Asuka came to be picked for the mission. Despite struggling through training back on Earth, she was chosen to represent Japan, a country she only partly knows as a half-Japanese girl raised in America. But estranged from her mother back home, The Phoenix is all she has left.

With the crew turning on each other, Asuka is determined to find the culprit before they all lose faith in the mission—or worse, the bomber strikes again.

The Legacy of the Mercenary King trilogy by Nick Martell is $2 each in the US (Kobo, Amazon)
These are:
  • The Kingdom of Liars
  • The Two-Faced Queen
  • The Voyage of the Forgotten
Here's the description of the first book:
Quote:
Secrets, rebellion, and murder are shattering the Hollows, where magic costs memory to use, and only the son of the kingdom’s despised traitor holds the truth.

Michael is branded a traitor as a child because of the murder of the king’s nine-year-old son, by his father David Kingman. Ten years later on Michael lives a hardscrabble life, with his sister Gwen, performing crimes with his friends against minor royals in a weak attempt at striking back at the world that rejects him and his family.

In a world where memory is the coin that pays for magic, Michael knows something is there in the hot white emptiness of his mind. So when the opportunity arrives to get folded back into court, via the most politically dangerous member of the kingdom’s royal council, Michael takes it, desperate to find a way back to his past. He discovers a royal family that is spiraling into a self-serving dictatorship as gun-wielding rebels clash magically trained militia.

What the truth holds is a set of shocking revelations that will completely change the Hollows, if Michael and his friends and family can survive long enough to see it.

Deryni Rising, by Katherine Kurtz, is on sale for $1.99 at Amazon.

This is the first book (in publication order, which is the right way to read them) in her Deryni novels.

I just bought The Last Blade Priest by W P Wiles for £0.80 on the UK Kindle Store. It's a bit of an odd price for a UK sale, so could be an error? Or it could be that it's $0.99 in the US?

I was annoyed with myself for missing it at £1.49 earlier in the year, when I took too long to make my mind up.

I'd always assumed it must be midnight local time, but some recent price checking has taught me that I was mistaken; a price advertised at, say, 10 a.m. GMT has changed by noon GMT, on both Kobo and Amazon.

Sometimes the heading above specials will say something to the effect of "Hurry! These prices end tonight!" I don't recall whether a specific hour is named, but if it was, for example, midnight, and you're in North America, which midnight? East coast midnight, west coast midnight, other?

I know that US daily deals cycle around 9AM UTC. I missed it the day earlier, and by the time Kobo handled my price match request, the price was already up, but they agreed to give me the credit.
