How to get stars to appear on reader

I remember seeing something about this quite a while back, but haven't been able to find it by searching, so my apologies.

My books (mostly my fanfics) have a title page with info on the story, along with rating. This goes from half a star to 5 stars, but they don't show in the reader.

The main font is Georgia, I was hoping for help in how to get the stars to show up. It's not a terrible problem, though it does annoy me. Any suggestion will be appreciated

Thank you!

Were you generating a jacket with calibre internal to the book or are you referring to the book details page on the Kobo?

It's a titlepage generated by FanFicFare on the fanfics, on which I add the rating. For regular books, I just copy that title page to add it

Wanted to add that I don't want help only for stars (that's just what I can easily check to see if it works). If there are symbols in other texts that don't show either, I would like a way for all of them to show. One epub had a character read a note written in a symbolic language, and only half the symbols showed up in my Kobo.

Thanks

That would be up to the font you are using. If you are using kepub, your Kobo will try to find missing glyphs by using other on-board fonts, if you are using ePub, you can either select a font with the needed glyphs or install a subsetted font with those glyphs though that will require editing the ePub to embed the font.

I had to do this with Terry Pratchett's Feet of Clay since Enochian was not supported out of the box.

I thought the Aa->Supplmental font was supposed to help with missing glyphs?

How can I check this? There were a few I thought supported it, and I did embed the font, but they never show up. I generally use ePub.

Do I also have to add them to the Kobo? I had tried this on my previous Kobo (Libra) 2 years ago, but since it didn't work I didn't try again.

Oh, I also have the Kobo font set to Publisher Default, since I do use up to 3 different fonts in my fanfics (one for regular text, one for letters, one if there's a different language) if that changes things.

I've never seen Supplemental font option. Where is that? I went to Aa (and Advanced) and didn't see it...

I am on firmware version 4.37.21586. It is on the "Aa" options, right under "Font Face".

It will only show if you are reading a kepub (shows as Kobo ePub). For ePubs, it is not an option.

Yep, that would explain it
