I suspect taht this isn't your taste, but: https://www.funda.nl/koop/gouda/huis...ertstraat-142/ (and it's toward the higher end of your funding range, so...this is a 'probably not,' but...) Sorry, one more and then I'll stop bothering you--this one might be doable and as it's lower-priced, you can afford the paint, etc.: https://www.funda.nl/koop/gouda/huis...illenseweg-55/ Hitch Last edited by Hitch; 11-17-2023 at 11:09 AM. This one came online last night and we messaged each other at the same time about it. My sister isn't certain about Amersfoort, and this one is a further away from the town center (there's a biggish shopping center walking distance) and the train station. And it's close to a highway. But at least the kitchen and the bathroom, whilst not to our taste, won't need to be replaced immediately. The grey flooring will need to be changed and I might want to remove the walls between the two attic bedrooms. The price isn't too high so there is hopefully some room for overbidding and after that there is hopefully some money left over for the changes we would like to make. |

We went to see two houses yesterday.
House 1. Great location, but the house itself just didn't work for us. The third floor (added in 2021) was great, really light but the lower you got the darker the house got. The word that came to my mind was pokey. House 2. Again, a great location. And a house with potential, but for the price it needed too much work. Also it was smaller than expected, probably because of the weird attic and the lost space under the roof, which was too low to get much use out of it. For Friday we got a viewing planned in Amersfoort, but my sister might cancel that one because she doesn't know if she wants to live in Amersfoort. And this morning I saw this house, which I really like, but I know my sister thinks IJselstein is too far from Utrecht. Our house hunt is getting to be a bit frustrating for me. It's taking up so much time and energy. |

Sitting against a heating pad - assembling a storage rack didn't used to result in so many aches & pains afterwards ... sigh ... of course Pixie cat helped immensely ...

Around midnight, I heard a cat outside my house, which is NEVER good. Cats, outdoors, here..that's cat suicide. I tried to find it to no avail, and for some oddball reason, Pooh...I thought of you. Maybe it will return tonight... Hitch |

Another day of sorting through my stuff and packing things. Tomorrow I want to finish with my bedroom.
The current plan is that I move in with my sister next weekend. So next week will be spend packing my stuff I want to take me to hers. Most work will be sorting through my clothes; what to take, what to put into storage and what to toss. I don't have much space at her place, so packing the rest (toiletries, cross stitch supplies and electronics) won't take long. On the 11th my parents and cats will move to their vacation accommodation and on the 14th and 15th the movers are coming to pack up my parents things and move it into storage. Just after Christmas they're getting the keys to their apartment and have two and a half months to get it painted, buy new furniture and get their stuff moved in and unpacked. I can't wait until December 16. From that date I don't have to clean, order groceries, run errands, etc. I'm going to take at least a couple of weeks to relax and focus on myself. Currently I'm always tired. There's just so much going on; me moving in with my sister and having to pack my stuff, me helping my parents and the house hunting. If it was up to me we would pause the house hunting for the next three weeks, but I know that my sister doesn't want to do that. |

Yeah, I feel for your tiredness. In the three months after I decided to retire and move on the same day,I spent every day boxing things up and throwing or donating what I could. It felt so good when I was finally done and could relax!
Wishing you strength and energy till you can rest! |

And you're doing your stuff, your parents' stuff and all that AND trying to find a house. Now you know why people your folks' age (which I believe is the same as mine, and many/most of us here!!!) have ZERO interest in finding new homes and moving, lol. I mean. I have a mad pash on two areas north of me, in AZ, and would adore being there, but the mere thought of packing up and moving--never mind finding a damned house in the first place--makes me want to collapse. I feel for ya! Hitch |

Wondering about two idiots in a mall parking lot. I got into my car, started the engine and then got to watch the couple going back to the car next to mine park their child in a stroller behind my back bumper before popping their trunk and starting to unload a full shopping buggy.
Feeling the spirit of giving, I flipped the backup alarm switch into manual (three position switch for disable, manual and automatic). The alarm was required to be installed by my last employer so I could claim mileage for using my personal vehicle at work and it is rather loud. Got to watch both of the dimwits jump and start screaming at me. Who in the possession of a moiety of their senses would park their kid so close to an occupied vehicle that I could only see them in the rear view camera. What they claimed is that they didn't realize that I was in the car and that the engine was running. |
