The only time FFF sets title_sort instead of just title is when you have 'Force Title into Title Sort?' checked. (Or "New Only" checked for Title which preserves existing title_sort by setting it to the 'old' value.)

However, it looks like Calibre only updates title_sort if title is actually changed. So if you already have a title_sort value that doesn't match Calibre's algorithm applied to title, you won't get it from an FFF update unless title has changed.

I don't see anything wrong with FFF here.

usecache is really meant for BasicCache, not BrowserCache.

EDIT: OTOH, perhaps the correct answer is the work around given before: copy/paste or drag-n-drop. Fetching the author page with Get URLs from Web Page gives you their favorite list, not the author's stories. Because both are in the HTML and switched by javascript.

How long does FFF 'wait' for the cache?

I forgot to load a few chapters into cache, then stepped away to play with the cat while letting it download. When I got back I got a 'verify you're human' page in my browser and a failed download because the page wasn't in cache.

I assume you mean with open_pages_in_browser:true.

FFF will try to open a page twice, and poll the cache for the page 5 times with lengthening sleeps between ([2, 2, 4, 5, 6]) each cache check. So something like 40 seconds per page? The numbers are fairly arbitrary, but seem to work.

However, if there are more than open_pages_in_browser_tries_limit(default:6) failures in a row for any given domain, FFF will stop trying to open those pages in browser and immediately. But that's only likely to be an issue when downloading several stories from a site, unless you have continue_on_chapter_error:true

I got one notification and a nice notice on my ffnet account page that my gmail address had blocked the rest, lol. What email are the rest of you using?

I switched to gmail specifically because Outlook was having issues.

gmail. it just started streaming in from yesterday. looks like it is resending everything (or at least a large portion of it) woke up with 120 emails waiting after clearing about 80 yesterday itself. did not change anything on ffnet itself.. last I saw, I had the same "cannot send email" error.

I did get another story notification this morning, no notification about bounced emails.

New question: For a storyUrl section, do I need the entire ffnet link including the story title?

Question: I have include_subject_tags set to a custom 'tagscategory' entry.

If I edit tagscategory, it adds new entries rather than replacing the column.

Is there a way to set it to always replace?

Additional question: When 'open pages' enabled, FanFicFare opens an ffnet author page when there's no cover image at all (not even a generic 'mystery head' image). Intended?

I would assume you have the 'Keep Existing Tags when Updating Metadata?' checkbox on. It's on the General tab, left side, in the 'Updating Calibre Options' box.

The code says it only loads the author page if there's a cover URL found and both skip_author_cover and include_images are true. Without an example, I assume either a bad image URL, or the site hiding the <img> tag with CSS.

You could turn off skip_author_cover to avoid it entirely.

Hi, I'm having an issue where FFF is only downloading the first two chapters of a ten-chapter story. I think it's related to the author changing the name of the story after those two chapters.
