Hi, thanks for confirming! I hoped it was just a security setup on my end. I just tried again with "http://" in the url and it allowed the download. Ok, onwards with my install...

Sorry, I up this because it got no answer. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I followed the explanations carefully, so I don't know what it is, or whether there is a way to bypass the issue in order to get this method to work.

When I do as is explained in the YouTube video (steps 5/6), the "path" that is created is named C:\Android\platform-tools, as is also briefly shown on the screen of the guy doing the YT video, so I guessed that should be correct.
BUT when I reach steps 9-10 things go wrong because here it is supposed to be called (as is visible in figure 1) C:\Android\SDKPlatformTools\platform-tools (while on my PC the "SDKPlatformTools bit isn't there). So from there on I cannot move forward, because any command I try using, be it with or without the "SDKPlatformTools" (whether I do as indicated in step 11 or go directly to step 13) will be refused.
Maybe I should add that I downloaded and used Bluestacks 5 because Bluestacks 10 didn't show the required "Advanced settings" line.
If someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong, I would be grateful !

Uhm, the OP, as in the very first post does not have steps 5 and 6 in it. There is only step 1, 2, and 3. There is additionally steps 1 through 7 in the high resolution workaround that is quoted at the end. If you are referring to some other guide buried somewhere in this long thread, then you need to quote it and also the error message. Saying "I tried everything, and it doesn't work!" is a little too vague to start guessing what went wrong.

If you can't get it to work you can go a slightly different path. I had issues and gave up.

An alternate method is to use another android emulator. I used nox player and described the steps in a general fashion a few pages back. The benefit of it was the nox installation includes the adb command in its installation directory so simpler to get it to work as described.

This is just a suggestion if no one gets back to you with a solution to how you're trying it now.

Exclamation

I just joined this amazing community
I have been trying these steps without registering for a couple of days

Let me be Hell Raw,

It doesn't work

I know might have been elapsing somewhere

But I followed the sheet thoroughly but to no avail

It seems a bit too complex to me

I also saw the video but CMD was showing this to me

'C:\Android\platform-tools' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file.

I made the path but still, it showed this

I was wondering if anyone could illustrate the steps a bit more clearly

& Also the book is an Graphic Novel kind of thing (Britannica Infograpica)

For what it may be worth, the Britannica's Encyclopedia Infographica is a fixed layout ebook. calibre is not a very useful tool when it comes to fixed layout ebooks. If you really want the book in epub format, it is available on Kobo and other ebook retailers. Canadian price is the same on Amazon.ca or Kobo.com/ca and if you are a Kobo Plus member, it's included.

Of out curiosity, when you installed the platform-tools, what directory did you install them in?

Unfortunately, I am not a Kobo Plus member

I installed it the day when I was trying to install the file

I went to Environment Variables and clicked Path and then edit and new

But it failed

Also, I found a new way to do so

I click screenshots of them by clicking Windows+Shift+S, it is soo tiring but worth it

I am at pg. 125

I couldn't buy it with Kindle because it is not available there

You don't need Kobo Plus to buy the book on Kobo.

Have you checked to see what directory you actually installed it in? For me, the default install for the package I installed was C:\platform-tools.

Hmmm... I had assumed that you must have bought it from Amazon since you were posting in a thread devoted to downloading Amazon ebooks.

Weird problem here. I bought a book that showed a content page and all that good stuff in the Kindle app inside Bluestacks, but when I exported the files and de-DRMed it I get a .mobi file with slightly off formatting and no TOC.

I did get it working using nox player (version 7.0.5.8) as the emulator. I didn't have to install adb also as it comes with the install and is in the installed nox/bin directory.

In nox player:
1. I enabled root first from within settings->general
2. I enabled usb debugging for data tfer by going into the tools folder on the main screen. Chose settings and tapped several times on About Tablet to enable developer options. Then back to settings->developer options and enabled USB Debugging.

After this I loaded the Amazon kindle apk - same one mentioned earlier in this thread version 4.16.0.75, then registered with Amazon and sent a book to the reader.

To extract the backup file for the calibre key I went to the nox/bin install directory and ran adb backup com.amazon.kindle from there.
To extract the books I used the adb pull command. I appended the path to where I wanted the books to go to (c:\kindle_books) in my case. Otherwise leave that part out.
adb pull /sdcard/Android/Android/data/com.amazon.kindle c:\kindle_books

This retrieved file tree is what you browse through to import the .prc book(s) into calibre.

I am a novice and would have had zero chance without all the information others have posted here. It was a godsend So thank you all very much !!! I just made this comment in case it helps someone having no luck with bluestacks.
Thank you so much for this!! Your post is a godsend to me I was struggling to do the backup step in bluestacks because although it says "Now unlock your device and confirm the backup operation..." no prompt or whatever on the emulator and 0kb backup was generated.

I stumbled upon your post when skimming through the thread from the last and Nox works without issues on my end! I needed to copy/paste .prc files manually on Amaze manager and FileAssist, but maybe I'll try adb pull again later.

Thank you again, honestly I'd suggest this being included in op's post as an alternative way when the backup on bluestacks fails.

EDIT:
Oh I missed your later post, and it works now!
