Unfortunately what i did was when it said you are probably in managed mode step, i went to register kindle (it was unregistered) so now i am in registered managed mode (with koreader installed etc) so if do the post jailbreak steps e.g. enter_demo it doesn't make me do random values for wifi as wiki says https://github.com/notmarek/LanguageBreak it just sends me back to main screen after it shows some demo pics

I am trying to do ;demo and resell but then i get the shipping battery issue what should i do to unblock?

Thanks, now that i did that my OA3 now has no MKK folder and when i put the update hotfix bin there is no update option. I tried ;log and it outputs some logs but everything else (koreader, kual are erased) do you know why i can't update hotfix anymore?

That's... interesting. And, yeah, it definitely shouldn't be rw on boot . I have a vague idea of why it is, though, so, to double-check: on which FW version is your *other* device?

After using the resell option, factory settings are restored.
You need to put mrpi back into internal storage.
Place the hotfix in the mrpackages folder and run ;log mrpi to install the hotfix.

If it doesn't work, jailbreak again.

I tested a bit
After reboot the / is mounted as ro, mntroot rw/ro commands work. Installing hotfix via mrpi no longer throws errors regarding mounting. I didn't test YUK

I mean that the exploit could work at some point with those firmware? Or it has to be a totally different point of entry for the exploit?

(MRPI doesn't actually check package signatures, UYK does).

(I'm not running affected FW versions (and probably never will), so I can't test any of the new troublesome stuff).

TL;DR: There's a reason I just didn't blindly push that version to the snapshots, that reason is I'm not entirely sure it doesn't completely break the core part of the JB, hence the requested testing ^^. Over the years, I've learned *not* to push stuff I've hotfixed in a rush while in a half-delirious sleep-deprived state .

There are a number of different known (and potentially more unknown) struggles involved in that, some of them not in the hands of people actually looking for/testing exploits: that firmware switched to hardfp, which means I need to rebuild all the things with a new dedicated toolchain. Which means even if you do get in, you can't actually do much right now, which means there might be even more unforeseen complications down the road.

As the state of the Snapshots thread attests to, updating the toolchains is something that I've been trying to find time for in the last couple of years...

TL;DR: I'm hoping to get to it soon-ish, but it's not at the top of my TODO list right now, and the renewed interest because of this issue is not a strong enough motivation for me right now. I mean, it'll probably help float it up faster, but, eeeh.

Ah, I misread, thought it was an optional step

I also tested on a PW4 that had an older hotfix. This time I flashed via UYK, "Update successful," device booted, and root is now mounted read-only on each reboot.

After i press resell device when the kindle is booting up i plug my kindle into my computer and it comes up as a diskless storage device on windows, so i can't put the files on it again. I tried doing it without this step but i dont see a log message.

On my PW5 SE with firmware 5.14.3.0.1, previously the Jailbreak got stuck at step 19 - the device simply rebooted without log messages into demo mode in Chinese.
This problem was solved like this: in step 15, after connecting to the PC, I copied again all the contents of the LanguageBreak folder, except for the .demo subfolder
After this, the Jailbreak process went as expected.
