Thanks

Really thanks to @Marek for this wonderful work. I successfully jailbreaked my Kindle Oasis 2 and have KOReader installed. One little annoying thing is it complains about registration. How to make it registered without being automatically upgraded by Amazon? And it seems KOReader has Calibre integration. I also want to make it connect to my Calibre library in local network. How to avoid the auto upgrade again? Thanks a lot for your help. |

If you can limit quality of service or download rate from you router, do so. Go to airplane mode as soon as possible. Check to see it an update download started and delete the partial download if it is present. After registered rename the OTA binaries: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...3&postcount=25 |

You can fill up the document storage to the point there is no room for a firmware update to be downloaded before you go online. Dave |

after installing and activating "rename binaries" in the KUAL application, is their anything else i need to do to block OTA updates when activating WiFi and signing in to amazon account?

After that, if the binaries have been successfully renamed (I checked with kterm, but you have to know linux), you're good to go

Thank @Marek for your incredible works. I have jailbroken my Kindle PPW3 successful today. Also, I have installed KUAL and Koreader. Everything is OK! But I have a little concern. While I was installing KUAL, it appeared these two lines, just after it completed: Failed to remount rootfs RO, waiting . . . Really failed to remount rootfs RO -_- I'm not sure what this means, should I be worried? |

Current versions of MRPI should be slightly less alarmist about that warning. TL;DR: It's (mostly) harmless, just reboot your device to err on the side of caution. |

What does "mostly" mean? What will it cause when it's harmed? Last edited by dyncwiuy; 11-11-2023 at 12:30 PM.

I entered demo mode after doing the entire process to get out of "locked" mode... when I logged into my Amazon account all my hacks were deleted, I already had everything installing and working fine Does that mean I can't be online? to much fun reading all these thread... i learn a lot haha |

I am stuck in managed mode kindle but it is jailbroken and registered. Doing the steps on github of ;enter_demo does not get me to wifi page or store, just gets me some demo images then shows main kindle screen (with multiple shipping mode error) any help?
