Instead of adding books to "Want to Read", so the limit is the number pending in "Want to Read" plus "Read" number, set a fixed number, so no need of adding books to "Want to Read". Reading goal in terms of numbers (goodreads-like), instead of specific books.

Currently, the reading goal is 239/358, because there are 358 books in the 2023 reading goal.

Without adding or removing books to the list, is it possible to change 358 to another number?

Low-priority, but a confirmation before removing a book from the goal would be helpful. I just lost a few records due to misclicking when trying to update the genres.

Plugin seems to work as expected for Calibre 6.99! Was able to successfully open the Edit/Configuration/Challenge dialogs, add a new book to the list, and then add a new record to the book by changing percentread.

Good to know! I wasn't aware of the beta testing. Is there a topic created for this, like there was for calibre 6? I need to check my other plugins.

Pinned in the main Calibre forum. There doesn't seem to be much changes, just Qt recompiled to use the latest version.

Is sorting the reading goal list by date (asc/desc) intended to ignore the timestamp? If I finish multiple books on the same day, that day gets sorted alphabetically. The timestamps are stored in the json, so I'm not sure if it's intended or an oversight.

I'll take a look at this. IIRC, the widget only uses the date part of the datetime object. I'll check if I can use the complete data.

Mostly out of curiosity than anything, what's the plausibility of setting a specific book to 'count' as multiple books? I'm currently reading a five-book omnibus, would be nice if I could mark it as five books without splitting it apart and adding each part separately.

This can't be done because the whole code is based on the book ID. Also, each book would need its own page count.
