Your scribe's device id isn't implemented in the hotfix. Can you provide your device serial? 000X XX00 0000 0000 We just need the 3 digits represented by the X's

My scribe serial is ---23M---.

After the bridge+ issue, I updated my Scribe to 5.16.2, and resetted it.

Then I tried to jailbreak my Scribe following Marek's instructions, but after step 16, my Scribe directly entered normal interface and failed to show 'language selection menu in a few seconds' , and 'see some log message on the screen" did not appear. And appears a window tells some bug about "KPPMainAppV2" , which is showed in the image below.

Would you please give me some advice? Thanks

Try installing the hotfix if that works you should be fine and can exit pseudo demo mode by doing ;demo - yes

KPPMainAppV2 crashing all the time while in demo mode also happens with KT4? (10th gen Kindle Basic) that had try jailbreak > get stuck in "managed" state with Chinese UI > factory reset > firmware reinstall > couple more factory resets > retry jailbreak procedure.

And also language selection never shows (after re-doing entering demo mode / after redoing step 8, 9... since dismissing crash / dump dialog exits back to homescreen) after holding the power button as instructed, instead Kindle reboots and then shows Setup you Kindle (where it is offers choice between setup using phone + Kindle app or setup manually using Kindle itself to input login info). So, no language choice step before that particular setup step that you normally have after spring factory reset.

I just follow your advice, and install successfully the update_hotfix_languagebreak_en_us.bin. But when I input ;demo, it appears "Device Already Registered" in a window.

When my Scribe boots, it shows "BRIDGE+". And there a "mkk" folder in kindle and some "KPPMainAppV2" files.

But after I copy the lastet MR installer and (coplate) Kual in kindle and type ;log mrpi, my Scribe don't install Kual.

Right now, I am not sure my Scribe has been jailbreaked, and I don't know how to install Kual and make the ;log mrpi work.

That it crashes means that you already have gmdebugging thus you should be able to just sideload the hotfix and have it working

No idea what "gmdebugging" is. That flag file with filename in all caps that is needed for firmware 5.12+?
And it is not my Kindle I was only helping a friend via Viber to so the jailbreak and install KOReader.
The only thing that I can say for certain is that jailbreak bridge script no longer prints anything on device boot. Haven't asked that person to test ;log mrpi or ;log runme or to try running the hotfix bin using "Update your Kindle".

Usualy doing both firmware install and factory reset without allowing an extra reboot between those 2 (that would restore parts of jailbreak bridge files) would clear all parts and all copies / backups of mkk, no??

With your advice, I go to demo mode, and before pressing "resell", I don't copy content of Languagebreak into my Scribe. After reboot, I install update_hotfix_languagebreak. Then I stuck in demo mode. When I enter ;demo, it appears "Devices Already Registered".

But it seems I have to log in my account, in order to enter Scribe system.

Need I copy content of Languagebreak before pressing "resell"?
Does the "Bridge+" appearing in boot means my Scribe has been jailbreaked?

Thanks again for all the effort, but that didn't work for me... it just asks me if I want to enter the demo mode. If I choose yes, it reboots but then it isn't really in demo mode because if I do the ;demo it asks again if I want to enter, instead of the demo menu (resell, sideload, etc.)
I'll keep an eye on the thread and the updates; or try again with renewed energies later this week.

Hi Marek.

I just reset my Scribe and update it to 5.16.2. And deregister after I enter the system.

This way, I follow your instructions and finally, the whole jailbreak steps finish. The "language selection menu" and "some log message on the screen" appear.

But I stuck in pseudo demo, despite I enter ;demo ,or enter ;enter_demo to go to resell. In the pseudo demo (wifi button is grey out), after I enter ;demo, it shows "Demo Activation" window . Then I press yes, and kindle reboot with "Bridge+" appearing in booting screen. But after reboot, kindle stills in demo mode.

I just wanted to report that everything has worked well for me. I'm running a PW5 with working Koreader. These are the steps that I have followed:

0. I have performed all the steps in the airplane mode to give Amazon 0 chances to push a firmware update at me.
1. Updated my firmware from 5.14.3 to 5.16.2.1.1 and switched the device language to English (just in case)
2. Performed the steps in the main post to install the jailbreak. Everything has worked as expected. Somehow my device was still in English after installing the jailbreak, but I have installed the hotfix anyway.
3. I have installed MRPI and the "extensions" folder from the zip that was linked in this thread
4. Then I have installed KUAL and renameotabin extension
5. After verifying that everything works, I have changed a password on my hotspot, connected my Kindle and logged into an Amazon account (to get rid of stupid "cloud not available" popup). Once the device has logged in, I have disabled the hotspot, enabled the airplane mode and changed the hotspot password again, in case my device wanted to try something funny.
6. Installed the latest version of Koreader.
7. Connected to my home WiFi for a brief moment. After the Kindle appeared in my router GUI, I have banned it from accessing the internet, while allowing it to access the local network.
8. Verified that I can connect to my Calibre server and to my calibre-web OPDS catalog on my local NAS, but can't access any external resources.
9. Changed my device's language back to Dutch.


I'm very happy with my device now and I'm very grateful to everyone who has made this jailbreak possible.
