Hi all! Been a while.

Vampire Junction by S.P. Somtow
Amazon US FREE

Quote:
Now acknowledged as one of the most important classics of twentieth-century gothic literarture, S.P. Somtow's tale of a twelve-year-old rock star vampire, his Jungian analyst, and the Wagnerian conductor who is his nemesis turned the entire genre upside down in the 1980s and is considered the ancestor of the "splatterpunk" movement. Vampire Junction has been voted one of the top forty horror books of all time. Timmy Valentine: "He'll steal your heart - and have it for breakfast!" 21st anniversary edition of this unforgettable classic of high-intensity horror.
And Then I Woke Up by Malcolm Devlin
Amazon US $1.99
Quote:
In a world reeling from an unusual plague, monsters lurk in the streets while terrified survivors arm themselves and roam the countryside in packs. Or perhaps something very different is happening. When a disease affects how reality is perceived, it’s hard to be certain of anything…

Spence is one of the “cured” living at the Ironside rehabilitation facility. Haunted by guilt, he refuses to face the changed world until a new inmate challenges him to help her find her old crew. But if he can’t tell the truth from the lies, how will he know if he has earned the redemption he dreams of? How will he know he hasn’t just made things worse?

While not "fully" horror, it's Dark fairy tale retelling with horror elements. I read this one years ago and liked it

The Seventh Bride (Bluebeard Retelling) - 99 cents

Quote:
Young Rhea is a miller’s daughter of low birth, so she is understandably surprised when a mysterious nobleman, Lord Crevan, shows up on her doorstep and proposes marriage. Since commoners don’t turn down lords—no matter how sinister they may seem—Rhea is forced to agree to the engagement.

I'm surprised it is free. The book is considered some kind of classic.

Perhaps because it's published by "47 North, Seattle": "Amazon, the Amazon logo, and 47North are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc., or its affiliates."

The new Subterranean Press freebie:

A Sign of the Times by Joe Hill
https://subterraneanpress.com/a-sign...e-times-ebook/
Quote:
Girl trouble got you down? Do bigger guys kick sand in your face? You don’t have to take it anymore! All you need to turn your life around is a positive mental attitude, an open mind... and an Elder Sign burned into your right hand.

The nastiest spells from the Necronomicon are all over the Internet and personal growth has never been easier. In this new era, rock hard abs, explosive earnings, and better, longer sex are all on offer; one need only learn a few arcane symbols and offer their soul to Father Dagon.

Our kid Chester Swallow has had it up to here with his lousy job at the drive-thru and his rotten luck with the ladies. After watching a few how-to videos starring his favorite online influencer, he’s ready to take the plunge and sear an Elder Sign into his open palm. It’s a gutsy life choice and now things are going to change for Chester faster than you can say “Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn!!!”

Lucky Girl - How I Became A Horror Writer: A Krampus Story by M. Rickert is $2 in the US - Links to all stores
Novella. Was on my wishlist.
Quote:
A story told across Christmases, rooted in loneliness, horror, and the ever-lurking presence of Krampus.

Ro, a struggling writer, knows all too well the pain and solitude that holiday festivities can awaken. When she meets four people at the local diner—all of them strangers and as lonely as Ro is—she invites them to an impromptu Christmas dinner. And when that party seems in danger of an early end, she suggests they each tell a ghost story. One that’s seasonally appropriate.

But Ro will come to learn that the horrors hidden in a Christmas tale—or one’s past—can never be tamed once unleashed.

Yesterday it was vampires, today werewolves. Moon Dance by S. P. Somtow is FREE at Amazon US. I paid good money for this. Here's your chance to make me look like a fool.

Quote:
Set against a brilliant panorama of European expansion into the West in the late 1800s, Moon Dance is the horrifying tale of the illegitimate son of the Count von Bachl-Wolfling, leader of a pack of Viennese werewolves, and of the boy's all-too-human governess, Speranza. The pack has decided to emigrate to America, in search of wild lands and unsuspicious human prey. But unbeknownst to them, the Dakota territory is already home to the Shungmanitu--a clan of the Lakota Sioux who become wolves by the light of the full moon.
The new cover, in a word, sucks. But the paperback was nothing to write home about either.

Vampire Junction is also still FREE. He's giving away the store over there!

Thor by Wayne Smith is FREE today on Amazon - usually pretty cheap but free is free. I LOVE this book!

https://www.amazon.com/Thor-Wayne-Sm...s%2C176&sr=8-1

Quote:
From the author of NIGHTLIFE (a noir, adult vampire novel set in San Francisco in the 1990's).Come inside the mind of your best friend...Thor is a German shepherd living with a human family. He loves his family and takes his role as their protector seriously. But when Uncle Ted comes to stay, Thor finds his loyalties and instincts sorely tested. To Thor's sharp canine senses, Uncle Ted is clearly not entirely human. If the family could see and smell what Thor does, they'd realize Uncle Ted is in fact a werewolf, with an uncontrollable thirst for blood.Tense and suspenseful, moving and terrifying, Thor is an absolutely unique novel, riveting and unforgettable.

I was excited to get this, but I already have it.

Have you seen the movie? It's called Bad Moon. I haven't read the book yet, but have seen the movie twice and enjoyed it. It's free with ads on Amazon's Freevee right now.

Ugh! Disregard my message below. You have to download an app to read the books. Not sure if I can get a refund on this.

It seems to work for ebooks (I had to go up top to eBooks/Flame Tree Press). But I have noticed a few where the 'add to basket' button is missing (including Ramsey Campbell's Ancient images).

Now my issue is keeping my choices realistic. I'm picking up Hellrider by JG Fahey (even though I didn't enjoy his Sins of the Father) because look at that cover! Also Five Deaths for Seven Songbirds by member here John Everson and Dust Devils by Jonathan Janz.

Shadow Flicker by Gregory Bastianelli also sounds very promising.
