Exclamation URGENT help needed. My Kobo Libre 2 won't talk to Calibre anymore

UPDATE: Resolved!!!!!

I am going on a trip in a week and want to add some books to my Kobo Libre 2, from my massive library in Calibre on my Windows PC. It's been a while since I did it last, but I don't remember it being so hard.

When I try to 'send to device' all I get is grayed out selection options. Apparently my device is not being recognized/seen. What am I doing wrong, or not doing correctly? I have spent the last 3 days spending hours scouring the web for clues.

I don't have time to shit-can my Libre 2 and research/shop for another reader. I really miss being able to download books to an SD card and then just insert that into my old Sony Reader. I have tried resurrecting my old Sonys, but they aren't holding charges.

Please .... please, help me get back on track and I will add you and your descendants to my prayers for blessings to be showered upon you.

It does not show up as a 'drive' in Windows Explorer. I have tried several different USB cords and have used a 'hub' and have gone directly to a USB port on the PC.

Talking What a difference a new cable and MUCH needed sleep makes

I must have tried close to a dozen different USB-C cables that I have all over the house, over the last several days, knowing full well that at least one of them had worked in the past.

my lone responder, Sirtel, for prompting me to do one more 'troubleshooting' search on the Kobo site. I know that I had seen something about making sure I was using a data cable and not just a charging cable, but I couldn't tell which of the cables I have were which.

So throwing baby out with the bathwater ..... in desperation, ordered a new charging/data sync cable from Amazon. Delivered about an hour ago and I now have a plethora of new books loaded to my Kobo Libra 2.

The good news is that I managed to ressurect 2 of my old Sony Readers with new batteries (thank you You Tube), so now I have back-up.

Glad you got your Libra 2 working. I suggest you order some more of the same USB-C cable just to have spares.

Other then the cable that came with my Libra 2, I have some Anker USB-C to USB-C and some Anker USB-C to USB-A cables. They work very well. And they have a really nice small velcro strap so I can fold them up.

Definitely. I ordered a 2-pack to get me through this emergency, but plan to order more in varying lengths. Anker is a good brand, yes?

I was going to respond suggesting to try a different cable - until you said you had tried several cables, so I assumed there was a known-good one in the mix.

Glad you got it sorted!

I've never had any problems with my Anker products (cables, batteries, headphones).

It's kinda ridiculous that we still have charging vs syncing cables in the age of USB-C. I guess the idea is that you put a charging-only cable in your travel bag so that you don't have to worry about something trying to make a data connection to your phone when you try to top off your battery at an airport/coffee-shop charger? IDK. I solved that problem ten years ago by getting a USB condom (Amazon shows they are now more marketably called "USB data blockers"), and that's worked for me ever since.
