The (1960's era) panel needs to be upgraded as to support solar. The roof has another 15-20 years of life. , so that would add another 20-30K

Thing is, een if you have to give up pBooks for eBooks, at least you can still read. I call that a win.

Both my mother and mother-in-law gave uop reading pBooks for eBooks and they never looked back. My mother is gone and my mother0in-law still reads eBooks. They did not give up pBooks because they had to, they did so because I convinced them of the convenience.

That is exactly the point which is that @Rellwood seems to be equating being a serious reader with reading paper books. An attitude which seems to all too common even on MobileRead. I can see that giving some of your loves from your youth can be painful. OTOH, to me, there is no difference between my enjoyment of reading whether it be a paper book or an ebook. Now audiobooks are not my jam but I would not refer to someone who listens to audiobooks as not being serious.

Shred up some mixed paper, sprinkle with a bit of water and sit in an open container adding more water every 24 hours or as needed. Enjoy that musty used bookstore smell.

Well, of course it depends on your needs.
Current prices for just the solar panels are getting near $0.50 / Watt
Controllers, batteries, inverters all add up.
I only run 600W, but that's enough for me.

I did not read the comment that way at all. I thought it meant, "I have been a serious reader (i.e. I read lots of books) all my life, and I always used paper books for that. Now I have to change my habits, and letting go is hard and sad, but at least I can still read with e-books." I saw no disparagement of e-books in that.

What the hell is up with all the Kobo books that "has descriptive copy which is not yet available from the Publisher"? Google brings up 19000+ results.
