Don't forget about Disney refusing to pay royalties to all authors of Star Wars novels after buying the IP from George Lucas. As of May of last year, they were still doing so, only paying big name authors when they publicly shamed them.

It's likely they're still not paying any but the biggest authors who have the clout to force the issue. I doubt Foster's interested in negotiating with them thanks to that and even if he was Disney clearly isn't interested in paying him more.

I'd recommend not buying any novels where Disney owns the IP. The author probably isn't making any money from it, even if they should be.

Ideally, you would want the Across Realtime omnibus, collecting The Peace War, The Ungoverened, and Marooned in Realtime. But if that's not available then this single volume is fine if you can also get Marooned for cheap.

The 11 original Sandman graphic novels by Neil Gaiman and many talented artists are on sale for $3 a piece.

It looks to be Amazon exclusive and Amazon lumps them together with larger omnibus editions (not on sale), so you have to sorta look.

Be aware, if you've not read Sandman, the first book, Preludes and Noctures is weak. Neil was still figuring it all out.

It's not that weak. Also, if you don't like the art, keep going - the artists change all the time, sometimes from issue to issue.

I hear all that. But I actually read Neil Gaiman before he was NEIL GAIMAN. I bought the first few issues of Sandman when they were released. I quit after five or so issues. Likely after the one with the Justice League. Made a tidy profit selling them later. I do love the first issue though.

There's a reason when Sandman trade paperbacks were first released, they started with A Doll's House, not Preludes and Nocturnes.

It's worth letting people know. It would be easy enough to read the first book and wonder what the hubbub is about.

The 30th Anniversary Editions 1-11 are either £1.99 or £2.39 on Amazon.co.uk (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07JHX4H...rwt_sb_pc_tukn). The £60 full series price includes some expensive later collections; the original TPBs would come in at around £25-30.

Sadly, presumably because they were originally Comixology, they aren't available on Kobo.

Set in the same universe as a previous novel, but I don't think familiarity is required.
