Bury Him Darkly by John Blackburn is $3 at Amazon (but not at B&N or Kobo).

This is a Valencourt book and they usually have two on sale. Not sure what the other one is.

Quote:
For two centuries, the body of Sir Martin Railstone, poet, artist, and libertine, has lain undisturbed in its crypt, amidst rumours that important artistic works of genius are buried with him. The Church of England has refused to allow the opening of the tomb, believing that Railstone was a murderer and dabbler in the black arts and that anything buried with him must be diabolical in nature. But now plans are in the works for a dam, which will leave Railstone's tomb under 100 feet of water, and a small group of fanatics obsessed with Railstone will stop at nothing to discover the crypt's contents before they are lost forever. One of them, George Banks, opens the tomb and releases something ancient and evil. He dies a horrible death, raving mad, and whatever he has unleashed is not done killing. Four unlikely allies - a clergyman, an ex-Nazi scientist, a journalist, and a historian - must come together and find a way to stop it before it destroys all of humanity....

Oh, and found another that I almost missed!

Doctors Wear Scarlet - 2.99 (1960)

They described both Doctors Wear Scarlet and Bury Him Darkly as "Simon Raven's DOCTORS WEAR SCARLET (1960) is a story of vampirism at an elite English university, while in John Blackburn's BURY HIM DARKLY (1969) a centuries-old tomb is opened with deadly consequences."

I read this book WAAAAAAAAAY back when, but don't really remember anything about it. I don't believe it is really a horror story. Mainly I remember a big deal being made at the time about the central character being a gay man (though I don't think that is the focus of the story).
I have it on Paperback. I think the majority of his "big books" are more fantasy line. I haven't read it yet. Owned it like 20 years at least lol

December Park by Ronald Malfi is on sale for 1.99. Excellent book!

Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/December-Park...ast_author_mpb

Kobo
https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/december-park-3

Quote:
The Piper has come to take the children away . . .

In the fall of 1993, fifteen-year-old Angelo Mazzone sees his first dead body. The murder is linked to the Piper, the possible abductor of three other children—who haven’t been found—over the past few months.

Some people in town say the woods are haunted, but Angelo and his friends head in anyway, to search the darkness for a monster. What they find there will change who they are—and everything they once believed in . . .
Ronald Malfi's Come with Me also on sale - another good one, 1.99

Amazon

Kobo

Quote:
Aaron Decker's life changes one December morning when his wife Allison is killed. Haunted by her absence—and her ghost—Aaron goes through her belongings, where he finds a receipt for a motel room in another part of the country. Piloted by grief and an increasing sense of curiosity, Aaron embarks on a journey to discover what Allison had been doing in the weeks prior to her death.

Yet Aaron is unprepared to discover the dark secrets Allison kept, the death and horror that make up the tapestry of her hidden life. And with each dark secret revealed, Aaron becomes more and more consumed by his obsession to learn the terrifying truth about the woman who had been his wife, even if it puts his own life at risk.

And looks like Snow, another good one, is on sale for 1.49! Only on Amazon, not Kobo, for this sale, sorry

These may be the typical prices of 99 cents each, not sure, but probably so -- either way I highly recommend both of these as Halloween anthologies I adore written by Ronald Kelly. Some Fear county stories, essays on Halloween, tons of fun stories. I plan to read both again this year.

If you have KU, they are free on there.

And, of course, if you are like me, you also just dig these kinds of covers

Mister Glow-Bones

Amazon

Halloween Store and other tales of All Hallow's Eve

Amazon

I see Kobo has Ronald Kelly but cannot find either of these on there, so not sure of prices

Clown in a Cornfield - 2.99 sale

This was a fun book. I haven't read the sequel yet.

Quote:
Quinn Maybrook and her father have moved to tiny, boring Kettle Springs, to find a fresh start. But what they don’t know is that ever since the Baypen Corn Syrup Factory shut down, Kettle Springs has cracked in half.

On one side are the adults, who are desperate to make Kettle Springs great again, and on the other are the kids, who want to have fun, make prank videos, and get out of Kettle Springs as quick as they can.

Kettle Springs is caught in a battle between old and new, tradition and progress. It’s a fight that looks like it will destroy the town. Until Frendo, the Baypen mascot, a creepy clown in a pork-pie hat, goes homicidal and decides that the only way for Kettle Springs to grow back is to cull the rotten crop of kids who live there now.

Where do you find these sales? Valencourt doesn't exactly promote their sales.

I'd like to see if they also have monthly discounts on their LGBT classics as well.

I agree. Of the novels I've read, only The Damnation Game is a horror novel. And, if I'm being honest, it's kinda dull.

I did enjoy Weaveworld and The Great and Secret Show.

They post on their Twitter account and I'm active on there. Not sure if they post on Facebook.

It would be nice if they featured at the top of their website, but it's almost like these are hidden.

It's usually the first to fourth day of the month they'll do the sale announcement in a random tweet

https://twitter.com/Valancourt_B?ref...Ctwgr%5Eauthor

They actually post a lot, so you will have to scroll down a bit and then you will see the two book covers by each other with the announcement. They did the tweet for this month on 10-1

I only know of this account and these sales always seem horror themed. That's a great question on their other genres and sales, not sure.

Weaveworld is another I have always owned but never read

I started the first part of the Great and Secret show but didn't continue it for some reason.

I did read Damnation Game and remember enjoying it, but it's been so many years I forgot most of it and I keep meaning to re-read it. His Books of Blood and Hellbound Heart are horror, but the rest is fantasy to me. I did like the ya Thief of Always, but that's a different type for him

Bundle of Holding has a Tachyon Publications bundle.

Ellen Datlow's Tales of Terror

I have most of these titles from previous bundles. The main thing I'm missing is the Lansdale collection, so I'll pass.

There are two tiers. $25.27 gets you everything:

Novels:
We Are All Completely Fine by Daryl Gregory
The Stress of Her Regard by Tim Powers

7 Ellen Datlow Anthologies:
Body Shocks
The Cutting Room
Hauntings
Lovecraft's Monsters
The Monstrous
Darkness: Two Decades of Modern Horror
Nightmares: A New Decade of Modern Horror

Collections:
Beyond Frankenstein - The Complete Supernatural Short Fiction of Mary Shelley
The Best of Joe R. Lansdale - The 2010 career retrospective
The Very Best of Caitlín R. Kiernan
Slipping by Lauren Beukes

Not completely alien. He does have the Abarat trilogy as well.

He also wrote a graphic novel I'd recommend. It's more horror than fantasy to my mind. Next Testament
