Hello,
i know it was ask again and again but i'm here for fanfiction.net too, well not only but the others sites work fine.
Can i ask help to configure my personal.ini ?
Can i ask help to understand and try to create also my own configuration with my customs columns for AO3 and Ffnet ? I read the others posts about it and i found it really interesting

I'm trying te create a catalog with Calibre and export it on cvs.
I only use AO3 and FFnet for my readings, and i want really specifics columns.
Can i ask here or i need to find another topics for that ?

I already read the FAQs, and try the browser cache and/or the proxy, didn't work at all. I try the browser cache thing on different browser too

I’m confident that I’ve looked for answers to these two questions and haven’t seen them addressed, at least north that google can tell me, so hopefully they help someone else.

1. My chapterstotal column is text so that it can handle “?”s and when I update anthologies, it collects the total number of chapters in each ePub. Is there a way to get it to sum these like the #chapters column, which is integers?

(I just realized that the “?” could be an issue here, too, but I’m thinking that you could remove them in the case of an “anthology tag” )

2. I have a custom column called “type” made up of permitted values (book, fic, article, short stories, etc.) These map to my fanfic and books virtual libraries. Is there a way that ePubs downloaded by FFF can be marked as “fic” by default?

IMO, chapterstotal isn't very useful. Most incomplete stories have '?' and if any story in an anthology has '?' the sum of chapterstotal could well be less than the sum of numChapters.

chapterstotal is a site specific metadata entry. IE, FFF only collects it for AO3 (and other OTW) sites. In fact, it's derived from chapterslashtotal using add_to_replace_metadata.

From defaults.ini:

## chapterslashtotal contains 1/3 or 1/1 or 3/? etc as reported by AO3.
## chapterstotal is just the total chapters part after the /
include_in_chapterstotal:chapterslashtotal.NOREPL
add_to_replace_metadata:
 chapterstotal=>^([0-9])+/(.+)$=>\2

If you set a metadata entry (using custom_columns_settings) into a float or integer type custom column, FFF will automatically split the list by commas and sum the values when it's an anthology.

But with the default definition of chapterstotal, that's a problem, because of the '?'.

Here's a brute force approach make chapterstotal the total or current when total is ?

## chapterslashtotal contains 1/3 or 1/1 or 3/? etc as reported by AO3.
include_in_chapterstotal:chapterslashtotal.NOREPL
add_to_replace_metadata:
 chapterstotal=>((?P<chap>[0-9]+)/\?)|([0-9]+/(?P<totchap>[0-9]+))=>\g<chap>\g<totchap>

Putting that in [defaults] works while doing away with '?' for chapterstotal.

Splitting out a separate copy or putting it under a more specific section should be possible, but I'm too tired right now.

I've been struggling with attempts to have FFF conditionally set the Status column to "Anthology" for anthologies. I haven't had much luck with what I've tried so far, so I tried modifying the above code.

I also found a wiki entry that had this code:

I tried to combine the logic from both, resulting in this:

However, it complains that it's only expecting two values to unpack. Can anybody help me fix this (or show me a better way)?

Yeah, custom column settings are an all-or-nothing thing, no conditionals there. You could probably create a custom entry (mapped to status), do a replace for the anthologies, and then insert that into the column.

I don't seem to have any special handling for anthologies myself (either in personal.ini or my metadata postprocessing) but I only have a few so maybe I just did them manually.

If you mean have FFF automatically save each chapter in a story as an individual book when downloading, no.

You can use EpubSplit (see link in my sig) to very easily split individual chapters into separate books after the fact.

You can put a chapter range after the story URL when you download it to limit which chapters are downloaded, example:
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11111/1/Title[5-8]

Search also ignore_chapter_url_list and first_chapter / last_chapter.

That might actually be possible now. There have been some changes since the last time I looked at that idea. But it would only be applicable to custom_columns_settings and generate_cover_settings. Everything else would still be controlled per-story.

I'm new to FFF, I've been following this thread for a while but I can't find a solution to my problem. I download fanfiction from AO3 and everything works perfectly expect for the titlepage that ignores the margins and shows like in the picture below. It only happens in the titlepage, the actual chapters are fine, but it's annoying. Is there anything I can do about it?

Also, some of the fics I download come with an extra 'chapter', the Update Log. Again, it's not the end of the world, but it's annoying that some files have and others don't. Is there anything I can do about this too?

I don't get the margin issue on titlepages on my Kobo Libra H2O.

Do you use any custom CSS?

Additionally: Does anything change if you install Kobo Utilities calibre plugin and use the 'set font' option to change the margins? Note that the book has to be imported to the Kobo database for this to do anything.

Without knowing what affect you intend, seeing a picture of it doesn't help--it looks perfectly fine to me.

I would speculate that ownedbycats is correct, maybe you have custom CSS that references <body class="fff_chapter"> while title page uses <body class="fff_titlepage">.

I'd have to see an epub with the issue to know for sure.

logpage defaults to off--if it's ever showing up, you must have it turned on for some stories in personal.ini. From defaults.ini:

## include a Update Log page before the story text.  If 'true', the
## log will be updated each time the epub is and all the metadata
## fields that have changed since the last update (typically
## dateUpdated,numChapters,numWords at a minimum) will be shown.
## Great for tracking when chapters came out and when the description,
