Speaking of Saved Metadata Column, is it possible to keep the Update mode at Update Calibre Metadata from Saved Metadata Column while also updating the title page in the epub + updating the cover page? (which is taken from first page/title page in my use case) Since I want my edited metadata to show up in the title page entries and cover page.

You just need to setup the Saved Metadata column in Calibre and Fanficfare's settings, then choose the Update Mode in FFF that uses that column.

Let's say you have a story that has a character named "Test Name" but you want to change it to "Test Name Edited", using

replace_metadata:
 characters=>Test Name=>Test Name Edited

and choosing the Update Mode Update Calibre Metadata from Saved Metadata Column when you select the story to update/redownload, FFF will retrieve the existing metadata found in your Saved Metadata column instead of the website to change character names that have "Test Name" to "Test Name Edited". The process will be faster since FFF won't have to redownload metadata.

No. It's been asked before.

Either run Update Always, or edit the title page manually if the story's gone.

Same code, just different structure to make additional OTW sites easier.

Lookking at the changes, a site switched from eFiction to OTW? It's cool to see more sites using it.

The OTW (AO3) site software is available for anyone to use, but I think setting one up is rather involved.

If you set up a meta data colums this stores all the metadata collected from a site. If you're strugeling with some code and are trying to get it right it can come in handy. If I don't get the result I'm looking for in a certain column I emty it, change the code and use Update Calibre Metadata from saved Metadata Column. For one it's faster, but also it's frowned upon to hit the same site/story over and over again which could result your IP addres being blocked or you even banned from a site (or so I've been told).

Ps. see this scrteenshot for which option to choose for the update.

No I did not, didn't have time this week to play around. I'll try again this weekend, but I'm getting so fed up ff.net issues that I'm thinking about abandoning it all together. Half the stories are crossposted on AO3 anyway.

You can ignore this, I use to have a rather large .ini file so it wanted a long line in the middle to easliy find where I wanted to go when scrolling through it. Since then I scrubbed the .ini file so it's kinda useless now, but I'm used to it.

Okay, y'all I did a dumb. I did a final update on all the fic I've been organizing (thousands of files) and didn't think there'd be new chapters, but apparently there were more that I'd downloaded without subscribing to than I predicted. My log_page wasn't working, but I figured I'd fix it once I had all the metadata downloaded finally. I do have new chapters marked, but the full-text search can't identify special characters so just searching for (new) doesn't work.

So, does anyone know if the job logs for Calibre are saved anywhere, or if there's a way to bulk search Table of Contents? This isn't like all the fics were updated recently, or everything I modified has new chapters. I have no idea how many do, and i'm kicking myself. I know this can be avoided in future, but I'd like to be able to ID new chapters now.

Instead of Calibre's Full Text Search, I tend to use the plugin Quality Check > Search ePubs feature, it's regexp and you can escape the parans: \(new\)
