Changed battery in Paperwhite Gen1 and it won't power on or charge
My battery wasn't holding charge very well so I got a new one and swapped it out in about 5 minutes, easy enough. But now it won't power on or take a charge. When trying to charge all I get is a flashing yellow light. It's like it just isn't seeing the battery at all. I popped the old battery that had been reporting 56% charge before I pulled it back in, and same thing. Both batteries register fine on a multimeter. But with the Kindle I get absolutely nothing. Just a battery and exclamation point symbols.
Is this a common problem with battery swaps? Is there a fuse in there that may have blown? Anything else to consider before I just go get a new Kindle?? |

Well, my bad. Apparently, I got the wrong battery.... mc-354775-03 instead of mc-354775-05. Looks identical, 3.7V, same mounting points, etc. But it has different pinouts... and 4 pinouts instead of 3. D'ooohhh. I reinstalled the old battery and connected the Kindle to a computer and voila, it was back. I need to get another battery.
