One of my favourite movies is The Crow. It had an okay sequel (City of Angels), and two more sequels I can't remember (will need to revisit those, even if they are bad). And a tv series that was decent.
For years now there's talk about a remake/reboot of the original movie. Luke Evans and Jason Momoa were set as main characters at different times. But all attempts fell through. Now they're making another attempt with Bill Skarsgard as The Crow. But one of the big shots behind the new movie is already talking about making it "a universe" and franchise. Why does everything need to be a franchise/universe? Since there are already 4 movies and a tv series it is already that. I don't mind a new movie. I do hope it'll be a reboot instead of remake of the first movie, not with Eric Draven but a new Crow. |

My nightly french-fries?
Finished up season five of Virgin River. Don't judge me. It brings back Hart of Dixie vibes. Last edited by DiapDealer; 09-12-2023 at 11:17 AM. |

I mean, lord love a duck, look at all of us, paying like little monkeys with pocketbooks to watch RERUNS, for crying out loud. I embarrass myself to think about it. Some reruns from literally 60 years ago or more! (Yes, yes, that's me and my boy Perry...) Only if you share, DD. Only if you share. Quote:

I think The Crow could work, set in the present. With all that's been going on in the world they can easily make it as bleak as the setting of the first one. But I do hope they come up with a good, original story, even if the character motivation (they and a loved one get gruesomely killed and he/she returns from the dead to get revenge). Chances are they overdo it with the baddy, Michael Wincott was deliciously evil, but it's easy to go over the line to laughable cartoony. |

Total B movie but damn, it made me laugh a million years ago and one of the few comedies that did. Anyway, all those hunky Canuck men! Hitch |

Virgin River (5 seasons -- starting in 2019 -- on Netflix in the states) is about a big-city nurse/midwife who comes to a small NoCal town to work at a rural clinic run by a crochety Doc (Matheson). Doc's wife made the arrangements unbeknownst to Doc. Slow crotchety acceptance ensues. Hart of Dixie (4 seasons -- starting in 2011 -- on the CW) was about big city doctor Zooey "Hart" (Rachel Bilson) who accepts a job from a stranger who subsequently dies and leaves his half of a rural Alabama practice to her. She has to fight for her place within the practice with the other partner: a crotchety Doc played by -- you guessed it -- Matheson. Slow crotchety acceptance ensues. Both quite sappy. But Virgin River is slightly more murdery, where Hart of Dixie was more musical. Both an ensemble, Northern Exposure-type venture in my opinion. I enjoy large ensemble casts. Started watching Younger again, just 'cuz I had a innocent star crush on what's-her-name when I was younger. Anyways, I'm only on S01E02 so I can't really say much.

I recall liking L&O (original), ages ago but sort of went off it, somewhere in time. I never was a big SVU fan but I do confess that I genuinely enjoyed Criminal Intent, with D'Onorfio and Erbe.
Even the later seasons, with "fill-in" cast members, was pretty strong. I thoroughly enjoyed Jeff Goldblum in it, and Noth and whatsis-face the last guy (HULK dude). That's the one that I liked. Not that anybody gives two tosses. Ha! Hitch |
