I am reading my paperback copy of Einstein His Life and Universe by Walter Isaacson. I bought it in 2008, a few months before I bought my first e-reader (original Amazon Kindle). There is a substantial amount of writing about physics that is over my head, but I'm plodding through those sections.

I decided to read this after I finished American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer (Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin) in July. But first after Am. Prom. I read The Last Castle: The Epic Story of Love, Loss, and American Royalty in the Nation's Largest Home by Denise Kiernan.

In June I read The Women's House of Detention: A Queer History of a Forgotten Prison by Hugh Ryan on my kindle. There was a sale price when I bought it.

Enjoyable, but Toby was rather slow to work out what was going on!

Next up: Pursuit of the Pankera by Robert A Heinlein.

Which was fun.

Next up:A Fall of Stardust by Neil Gaiman. A tiny Stardust prequel. OK.

Next up: Problem at Pollensa Bay by Agatha Christie. Her 79th book.

I started Too Brief a Treat: The Letters of Truman Capote this morning over coffee. I have developed quite the taste for letters and Truman's are delicious.

A good collection of short stories.

Next up was : Stolen Dreams by Stacey Kennedy. A light paranormal mystery/romance that would have been better without the erotica. I seem to have bought this one back in 2011. I can't imagine why.

And now: The Forge of God by Greg Bear. I also bought this one back in 2011. It's a bit cinematic at the moment, but I expect it'll improve.

God, I am reading HOLLY by Stephen King. I am 40% in and it is a real snoozefest. An absolute disappointment. No character development on the bad guys. So far its 5% what the bad guys are doing and 95% talk about covid, Kings hatred of Trump and random babble by Holly. I am trying to hold out skipping chapters. lol I am almost half way in and there is almost no action of any kind. I advise wait till the ebook price drops before buying. Not worth $14.99. And the name King gives the detective agency ? Finders Keepers? Come on. So retarded lol

I'm halfway through The Collected Short Fiction of Ngaio Marsh, my September prompt for the MobileReads TBR reduction challenge at the Storygraph. So far, the highlights have been Douglas Greene's intro, and Marsh's own intro about the creation of Alleyn.

I finished reading the last Alleyn novel last week. I do have the short fiction, I'd love to know what you think.

I'm 35% in. I'm enjoying it. It's interesting to read books that take place during Covid. So far nothing supernatural and more of a detective vibe.

Full disclosure, I usually like Stephen King.

I usually don’t, but this one sounded to not be so much in the horror genre, so I’ve reserved it.

Now I’m reading Walter Isaacson‘s Elon Musk. For anyone who sometimes like this sort of thing, I recommend it. If you read Isaacson’s book on Steve Jobs — difference is that Musk is crazier, so it is an even better read.

There is something about collections of letters that puts me off starting them, even though I really enjoyed the two or three that I read so far. I need to figure out what is holding me back and get over it.

My favourite was the collection of early letters of Robertson Davies, although one may have to be a fan and perhaps Canadian to get the most enjoyment out of them. Unfortunately, I think they are only available in paper.

My absolute favorite are The Selected Letters of Willa Cather. I have really grown to love the genre the last few years.
