That's the way it works. For anything else you will have to generate your opf file as Kovid suggested. I still do not see why does it bother you so much?

BTW, where can I report a bug/fix an error in the online docs? The docs for BasicNewsRecipe.get_feeds() says "Return a list of :term:RSS feeds" which looks like a bug. See http://calibre.kovidgoyal.net/user_m...cipe.get_feeds

You's have to read the source of BasicNewsRecipe you can file bug reports for the documentation in the same place as all ther calibre bug reports. In any case that bug is now fixed.

I'm a perfectionist I'm also enjoying getting into some coding again, so this is a nice challenge.

Are there docs somewhere to get me started on how to fiddle the opf file?

just copy paste the create_opf function from the basicnewsrecipe class in the calibre source, then make the changes you need to it. Use the feeds2disk command to see your changes.

for recipe, if I understand correctly, most of existing recipe work with RSS feeds. is there any recipe for common news website but do not have RSS feed for my reference? example url: http://www.nanfangdaily.com.cn/21cn/ it's in chinese.

Also, last time saw some people also ask for other chinese web fetching recipe of http://realtime.zaobao.com/realtime.shtml, someone helped to make one already?

There are quite a few. For example The new york times, Vreme, Borba online, Glas Srpske, Harpers magazine articles from printed edition etc.

The Problem is that the news feed also contains articles and they have to be handled differently to be formatted correctly. Just try to download the magazin with the currently built in recipe and you will see that the formatting is messed up when. This is the only reason why I split up the recipes.
