Does updating the metadata wipe out your annotations (even if < it over)?
I downloaded metadata and reviewed each one. Clicked on the arrow to copy my comments over (blurb plus annotation notes) and wound up with a series of horizonal lines (the text got wiped). I rejected the changes and it stayed. I noticed one of my books had a series of horizontal lines where the annotations once were, so I guess they got wiped. I might have not scrolled down to check that the annotations stayed for that one.

arrow? Are you using the Review option on the Ctrl-D method of getting metadata?
Only a couple of fields offer Merge (the arrow will also show a small down arrow (right click menu here) Also: That screen only offers the Standard Calibre fields. If you put annotations into a Custom Column, Get Metadata will not stomp them ![]() |

What annotations? Do you mean existing comments? If so go to Preferences->metadata download and set the option to append to existing comments. Then any metadata downloads will not overwrite existing comments.

Ok I figured it out, I used the annotations plugin in the past to extract annotations and it was set to put them in the comments field, where the book blurb goes.
I guess all I need to do at this point is find which comments have annotations in them and move them over to a different field. They're appended below the blurb, and I'm not sure yet which books have annotations, bookmarks, or notes in the comments field and which don't. |

is there a keyword you include with them?
You can search comments: <your keyword string> |
