Dealing with Kindle for PC/Mac 1.19 and KFX in calibre

I use BlueStacks emulating an Android phone. Just tested it yesterday on an old buy and it works like a charm.

Did you only followed the steps on the first post of the page you mentioned or did you have to follow another steps?

What I do is:
1. Launch Calibre
2. Click on: Add Books
3. Click on: Add books from a single directory
4. Navigate to the folder on the computer that has the book, select the book then click on the action button for your computer OS. In MacOS it is labeled Open
5. Book is added to the Calibre Library

A serial number is not needed for a Kindle app.

How can you download the books belonging to your cousin's account? Do you have access to that account?

The Kindle app is a piece of crap to use for reading. BTDTNT. That is why I use ePub readers; I started with iBooks and then moved to MapleRead.

I don't disagree with you; I meant no serial number is needed if one uses the Kindle app for DRM removal (which now can't be done with newly published books).

There are only two ways for removing the DRM from new books - Download & Transfer using the serial number of an eink Kindle (the Kindle must be registered to the account with which you buy the books, so a friend's/relative's serial number won't do) or installing an old version of the Kindle for Android app in Bluestacks. I've used both of them, but the first one is easier.

If a friend or a relative won't work, if I buy an used one, will not work, right?

An eink Kindle is a physical ereader, made by Amazon. Yes, buying an used one will work, if you register it to your Amazon account. After registering you need the serial number for the deDRM plugin, and then you can use the Download & Transfer option on your Kindle Content and Devices page to download your books to your computer and import them to Calibre. The Download & Transfer option is only available if you have a registered eink Kindle on your account; that's why you need the device.

Note that a Fire tablet won't work, it must be an eink Kindle.

Well, I've used to pick my cousin's physical Kindle to insert the serial number on the deDRM plugin, which worked for the last time I've used, on December 2022. Now we're in August 2023, first time in this year I'm trying to download the ebooks and make them into PDF, but now it's not working. I don't know what happened.

I tried the steps on Bluestacks here, but got stuck on it.
I don't know if it'll be off topic, but I'm putting this:

Ive got some problems on step 6 (around 3:32 mark on the video, on the setting informations on my Bluestacks on my Windows 10 PRO). I couldn't find the "about phone" > "software information" > "build number" > PIN and not USB debugging.

But it worked fine without finding those settings UNTIL step 17, when asked to put the AB backup file into the DeDRM plugin. In line 34, it says

There's no "choose backup file" option for that.

But ignoring that, I've synced the Kindle app in Bluestacks, went thru Media Manager and didn't find any file on that.

Can you help me on this, please?

If you used Kindle for PC, that serial number was unnecessary and it won't work by itself - you need a physical Kindle device to register to your account. You thought it worked, because you actually didn't use that number, but the Kindle app for DRM removal. The number just sat there, unused. A number alone won't work, unless you also have the physical device with that number.

I've finally got the files in the Media Manager on Bluestacks, transfered to Calibre succesfully, but it won't convert to PDF. I've already installed deDRM plugin, which isn't working. What should I do?

Did you manage to create the backup file and import it into the plugin settings?
