Diag failed to load
Hi there,
I meet a problem when starting Diags. I have successfully JB my KPW3 with firmware 5.14.3 yesterday using opening case and connecting serial port method. I got the root and installed jailbreak, KUAL and other great stuff. However, when I try to JB my wife's KPW3 with firmware version 5.15.1, I cannot start Diags. Here is what I do, after enter uboot, I input bootm 0xE41000 then I go the error message: kinit: init not found! I have tried “Format and overwrite FAT partition” and "Update using update*.bin file on FAT partition", so firmwire installed several times. I also tried reset from Kindle menu and "DO_FACTORY_RESTORE", nothing is a success... Here is the log: Code:
uboot > bootm 0xE41000 ## Booting kernel from Legacy Image at 80800000 ... This is what I'm working at. Using USB to TTL adapter to connect via serial port-
Please help me if you know how to solve the "kinit: init not found!" issue! Thanks, KarZh |

Probably someone previously in this reader formatted the internal memory. You need to reinstall the diagnostic system. Unfortunately, updates from Amazon do not include it. You can find them here:https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=342535
You need to use fastboot for kindle. Search the threads because it has been described many times. If you only want to jailbreak, it may be easier to upload some older software that you will break without access to diagnostics and then update to the version that suits you. I got into the exact init not found issue after trying to enter diag mode using rescue pack. Unfortunately I ripped both serial pads from the board. So my kpw2 is RIP
