Help fake-registering PW3 ?
Hello,
I just bought my first ever kindle today, a secondhand Paperwhite 3 that I got off my country's most popular ebay-type site. It works just fine, but I've ran into a problem: it's blacklisted. I don't want to return it; I'd be okay using it as is, but I'd also really like to have the collections feature and for the homepage to look as if I'd been registered. I really haven't ever done anything of this sort, and the possibility of bricking it scares me a bit. I know absolutely nothing about coding (i mean it), and I was hoping someone would be kind enough to guide me through the process. My current firmware version is 5.8.10 Thank you ![]() |

The jailbreaking part was initially intimidating to me because I wasn't sure whether it would break my device or not (and also because I wasn't familiar with doing this kind of thing, but it was a lot less complicated than I expected). I used the 5.9.6.1 jailbreak method and the KUAL extension you linked to; it worked perfectly. ![]() Thank you lots!! |

Amazon is trigger-happy at blacklisting and won't undo even for original owner. Blacklisting doesn't mean stolen, though can do. Blacklisted Kindles are openly sold and listed as such on eBay.

One acquaintance of mine contacted Amazon after losing their Paperwhite and Amazon almost automatically blacklisted it. A couple of days later, they checked with the TransLink Lost & Found office and it has been found on the bus they'd taken to work and turned in to the office. Amazon refused to remove it from the blacklist despite agreeing they were the original owner, etc.
