Voting with my pocket book in other words, just a personal policy. Sometimes that hurts. <sigh> But! There are so many wonderful books available either DRM Free or just plain free that I will have more books/ebooks than I can read in my lifetime. Last edited by NormHart; 04-20-2009 at 01:04 PM. | |

I hate the DRMs too, but I take advantage of Fictionwise offer: 100% rebate, from the pocket of the publisher and the retailer, and I'll be able to buy new books with the same money: http://www.fictionwise.com/lotr.htm So, yes, I went over to the dark side. |

Stanza on iPhone couldn't open LotR book (the biggest 3-in-1 edition). It hangs on decrypting :-(

According to the Lexcycle website, Stanza does not support ePub DRM.

Oh sure, the pronunciation software may be great but the daily hardware maintainance on it...really. 3 to 4 recharges a day? Outrageous! Plus it only reads one book at a time. It will never catch on.

My workflow: DRM'd mobipocket --> unDRM'd mobipocket --> Calibre to epub --> Stanza on iPod touch. If you purchased the epub version, replace "mobipocket" above with epub. I have no problems with reading the trilogy on my iPod Touch using Stanza. P.S. Just in case someone asks why I purchased mobipocket, it's so I can also read on my Blackberry using the Mobipocket reading software. What I do question, is whether the images would have been better in the epub/lit versions, if I had purchased those, and then converted to mobipocket. No big deal either way...
