Can't access payment information on Kobo website

As of about a week ago, on the Kobo website I can no longer access or edit my payment information. Up to then, on the left side of the Payment Information screen, I would see my country, street address, state, zip code, and phone number, in editable form, and on the right, spaces for entering credit card information. Now I see none of that. Instead, there is a little box prompting me to add a payment method, below that my Store Credit including the current balance (blacked out in the screenshot), and below that my Billing Address, with no visible information. There are three dots below Billing Address, but clicking on them does nothing but put them in a little bluish disk. I've tried it on two different browsers.

Clicking on the Add a Payment Method link opens a box for entering a credit card number, expiration date, and CVV number. Nothing else besides Save and Cancel.

I can't help but think that Kobo is trying to force me to save a credit card under the pretense of "making check out faster." It's already fast enough, thanks.

Till now I've been using gift cards. I've never had a credit card on file with them, and I don't want to.

I was wondering if anyone else has run into this.

I use paypal. Check it "on" before going to next page of payment on initial page of checkout.

Paying with gift cards works fine. I don't want to use Paypal (and as I understand it, you can't save it as the default payment method, anyway). That's not the problem.

When I go to My Account => Account Settings and click on the 2nd tab titled Payment Information, there is a ... menu at the end of Payment Method and Billing Address which allow me to enter/modify information. Payment Method gives me the option of Change Payment Method or Remove while Billing Address has an Edit box which I can click on to edit my address information. I tested this with Firefox, Edge and Chrome with Windows 11 and Safari with MacOS Ventura. Have you tried this with extensions disabled?

As far as I have noticed, if you have sufficient store credit to cover your purchase, Kobo will not try to use other payment methods.

As for adding a gift card, that option only exists when you are checking out and only if your current store credit does not cover the cost of your purchase.

Did you try clicking the three dots next to billing address?

(knew I should have refreshed, DNSB beat me to it).

As stated in my original post, clicking on the three dots does nothing but put a blue circle around them.

Tried with Firefox (more than once, and on more than one day), with and without extensions, and with Edge, where I don't even have any extensions.

And I was busy editing to add a couple of images.

Since the statement was made that the three dots show in a blue circle but the Edit button does not show, I tend to suspect that a popup/ad/whatever blocker is involved.

When you click the three dots next to the Billing Address line, there should be a pop-out button that says "Edit" and directs you to the following URL:
https://www.kobo.com/us/en/account/p...billingaddress

Try going there directly if you're not seeing it and see if that works?

I never gave them a payment method. I'm happy with no default payment. I wish Amazon didn't store it. Tip: Make small change in address in Amazon to force someone to have to enter new payment details if they access your open PC/Tablet etc.

I have PayPal settings stored, but I also noticed an annoying change recently: in addition to the CAPTCHA I have to solve to log in, I now have to solve another one in order to complete payment, which is quite annoying. How many books do I have to buy before you decide I'm not a robot?

I may have misremembered the "blue" part of the circle. I've disabled any addons for the site, I don't have a separate popup blocker, and I've made sure Firefox isn't blocking popups from Kobo. Same result. Clicking on the three dots puts a circle around them, but nothing else happens.

This works, at least sort of. I get a screen where I can change the country, but no other data of mine appears on it (no street address, zip code, phone number), and there are no other options to click on. I haven't tried changing the country to see what happens.

By the way, this image from the Kobo Help page, with Payment Information highlighted, shows approximately what my payment information tab looked like till about a week ago (the whole screen background was white).

Are you using an older version of Firefox? Firefox on my desktop Mac can't be updated; I can't update my Mac operating system because of hardware limitations so newer Firefox versions won't run. This is causing an increasing number of website feature failures to the point where I am going to be forced to retire this Mac Pro no matter how well it works.

I don't know about Edge (I've never used it) but more and more I'm seeing unexplained Firefox anomalies that don't show up on my newer MacBook Air M2.
