This is a GREAT book. I read it about 15 years ago and loved it.

It's very lyrical and full of that "magical realism" feel.

The only magical realism I'm familiar with is Gabriel García Márquez and Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel. I loved both and always intended to seek out more. Maybe that sale is the kick in the pants I needed.

I collect Haruki Murakami in English First Editions. This is a wonderful novel, but not quite as good as some of his other, earlier work. There is something very Kafkaesque about his writing; but, like I said, I absolutely love the way he writes.

I could say more, but my spaghetti dinner is almost done, and the Thelonious Monk record, "Monk's Dream", needs to be flipped over to the second side.

I would jump on this if I didn't already own it. Cider House Rules is another fav and a great movie too!
