Kaleido 3 is still poor colour compared to LCD, plasma, OLED, QLED, Crystal LED or VFD.
Where does eink Corp claim 256 gray levels for Kaleido 3?

Well, my Onyx Boox Leaf 2 doesn't fit those parameters. It is much lighter than any other of its size and the battery lasts exactly the same as my PocketBook Era (and I have the Wi-Fi on all the time). I guess it depends a lot on how you use the device. I only use it as a pure e-reader (I haven't had any problems with the battery and weight with the Poke 2 either). The price is indeed higher (although I bought it in a sale and the difference was small). That is a serious drawback. But the fact that it uses Android is absolutely irrelevant to me, apart from the additional options it offers me.

(I always talk about my personal experience and devices I own and use. I never like to give my opinion about devices I don't know first hand).

Not EInk, Boox - uses a screen controller developed in-house in the Tab models, which requires a lot of power when changing images, but hardly shows any screen-refresh.

For the average person, the programs that run on the reader (OS/firmware/software/whatever you want to call it) really don't matter if they can read their book without the reader crashing, and not have to "work around" problems too much. Every eReader has problems at times...the most important thing for these is how fast these bugs are fixed. Once you stop talking about actual bugs, there are still issues with the software on every eReader.

Every eReader seems to have its own set of quirks about what HTML and CSS it supports, and how good that support is. I don't know why this happens, but I do know that they aren't going to change any time soon, since not being compatible is actually harder today than being compatible...those quirks are almost certainly intended.

No eReader is really good at organizing your library, at least not out of the box. With Calibre and some of the better integrations (like Kobo), you get something that's OK, but compared to Calibre itself, every eReader is still bad.

Everybody here needs to remember that being able to update their firmware or download an e-book over WiFi is a feature to most people, not a problem that needs to be solved. I would never consider jailbreaking a Kindle, simply because if I wanted to tinker with my eReader, I'd start with something far more open. And, most people don't want to tinker with their eReader at all.

The term "premium" demands features that Kobo cannot provide - that's all I wrote about and tried to explain why.
Kobo may be sufficient for many - it's not for me.

It's your opinion that the term "premium" demands something Kobo cannot provide, not a fact carved in stone. In my opinion, Kobo Sage fits the term "premium", even if other Kobo models don't. You can agree or not, but your opinion is no more valid than mine.

And what should be on the Sage "premium"?
The creaking case when you hold it tighter?
That you can scribble on it, but not particularly comfortably?
That the installed hardware components (except for the screen) were modern 10 years ago?
That its battery life is very moderate due to the old components?

OK, it lasts longer than the Tolino Epos 3, but it's just as outdated.
