4.35 downgrade resolved the issue I was complaining about above.

You just put the 4.35 koboroot.tgz in the .kobo folder on the device and the update kicks off.

Thank you everyone

If it was dangerous, I would expect that those using it would have said there was a problem. I think it was maybe considered dangerous when it was created, but turns out not to be.

It sounds like it could be dangerous if you get a database corruption that prompts a factory reset before you were able to remove the patch.

I'm happy to see that. I'm guessing Kobo didn't thoroughly test this update on Aura One devices.

That's one HUGE advantage of Kobo over Kindle. When an update barfs, you can always go back to a previous version. But it's also why I normally avoid updating right away – unless there's a specific feature or specific fix that I want – I wait.

But I would like to be able to sync to Overdrive, so eventually I'll upgrade my Clara HD.

Brand new Kobo owner here, as in I got my first Kobo, a Libra 2, on June 9th, and it was working great until it updated. Since then I've had sort of similar issues to what @beowulf_lives reported. I only have epubs but I've had numerous hang issues trying to go to the next page. I've had it close the epub I was reading and go back to 1% read no matter where I was in it. It's rebooted itself without any prompting from me while in the middle of reading. I have one of those "Sleep "Mode" covers but on several occasions the Libra 2 has refused to come out of Sleep until I've pressed the power button on the back several times.

I guess this is my long-winded way of asking, since it is so new, that it's okay to roll it back to v4.35 based on the instructions @ZodWallup linked to previously.
All of my previous ereaders have been Nooks or Kindles so I either never had the option or the risk of bricking my device outweighed what I felt were minimal gains by rooting it.

4.37 seems to have fixed an issue I had with 4.35 where I couldn't connect to the store, it would allow me to sync but the Kobo store would return a 'network issue' message.

My Clara HD locked up once after the update. No response to anything.

I let the battery die, recharged, turned on as usual by holding button for 5 seconds, all good so far few days later.

I've only had to do that once ever. Every other time I've been able to get it to reboot either with a 30 second button hold or by plugging USB power into it.

I tried updating my Forma to 4.37 and after months of normal operation I lost the database to corruption twice. The first time I backed down to 4.35 and then I saw an update to Calibre about the Kobo's so I updated again to 4.37 and damned if I didn't almost immediately lose the database to corruption again. I have the plugin backup the database on every sync and I would get between 1 and 3 sync's before it corrupted and I had to restore it. I'm back on 4.35 and running like a champ now.

Something similar happened a couple of years ago where I finally just skipped an update on the Kobo due to corruption issues.

You're in the wrong thread and you're installing the wrong firmware version. The correct version to install is 4.37.21582 and this link points to the correct thread.

I just mailed my mom a Kobo Libra H2O running 4.37.21533 before I saw 4.37.21582 had been released Hopefully 4.37.21533 will be stable enough on a completely offline reader opening only sideloaded kepubs.

I've run 4.37.21533 on my Clara since it wasn't released and haven't hit any speed bumps.
