I finished _Strange Attractors_ this morning. I didn't like it as much as _Neptune Crossing_... I am not a big fan of abstract enemy's and things that happen in realities different from our own. I just couldn't form images in my mind of the scenes and locations that were described. But, it was still a good book and developed the character of Bandie and his new friends well. Next, I will continue and read _Infinite Sea_ and/or _Max_ by James Patterson. I have read all the previous Maximum Ride books and they are really fun books and quick reads. Even though they are some what "young reader" or "young adult" whatever you want to call it. Problem is, my wife bought Max in pbook and I am too cheap to spend $10 on an ebook that we already have in print. So, I guess I will have to give my kind a rest for a few days. Maybe it can go get it's nails done. BOb |

I finished reading Wizard's First Rule a few minutes ago... I've had it on the shelf for quite awhile and because of mixed reviews of the series I stayed away from it... I finally decided to read it after BOb recommended that I should, and I really have to thank him... It was an excellent read... It faultered slightly in a few places but I really enjoyed story, the -puzzles- that were solved by the Seeker and all the characters' portrayals throughout.... Now, however, I am left with a dilema as to whether or not I should approach the rest of the series as most of the bad reviews seem to lie with the sequels. -MJ |

Reading Elantris by Brandon Sanderson. Good book, 4.5 / 5. It is a fantasy, but not the usual type. It starts like this: "PRINCE Raoden of Arelon awoke early that morning, completely unaware that he had been damned for all eternity." |

I hate it when I just can't finish a book at a decent hour... I just had to finish my book yesterday, which meant I slept way too late... Anyway, I finished the entire Dune series, started with Dune, till Chapterhouse Dune, to the prequels, then the Legends and finally the conclusion. I must say, I found the end of Sandworms of Dune a bit weak. It felt rushed. Too many things happening too fast, without depth. Other than that, I did like the new books (by Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson). But, it's time to move to new books, I've just no idea which one |

When's the last time you had nothing to read?

A strange and scary thing happened yesterday. Due to having been off work for 4 days last week for surgery and recovery, I was able to read a lot. Read a Hugo nominee, delete, then go to the next one on my reader. I finished "The Voyage Out" and deleted it. Suddenly, my reader was empty! I had nothing to read!! Total panic, just for a moment. Then I remembered the hundreds of books on my computer that I could re-read. But instead, I went and bought some new ones. I don't really expect to ever be without reading material ever again. I just found it was funny how my brain clenched and stomach seized for a moment at the thought of having nothing to read. PS: IMnotsohumbleO, the Hugos this year are mostly drab and depressing. Sign of the times, I suppose, with the wars and economy and such. But there were a few sparkling gems among the darker stories. |

Exactly! That's the way to do it. It is a joy to read at a nice easy pace, flipping back and forth to re-read things, just for pleasure. Enjoy!

Although I keep more ebooks on my Kindle than I know I could read in a few months even if I was reading all day long each day. BOb

I brought it upon myself. I set a moratorium on myself to not download freebies or buy any more books until I read everything on my list. Then I scrounged up copies of all of the Hugo nominees and had only those on my reader. Then I finished those. Oh horror is true!

(yes, I know I'm in the minority. Yes, I know the importance of LoTR. I still don't like it! It has some good moments, but they - for me - are far outweighed by the bad and the tedious)
