help!! New to calibre and dont know why it wont let me send my books to my kindle!

Help, I am new to calibre and trying to send books to my kindle and it keeps showing me this error message every time i try to email them, it doesn't give me the option to send to the device when i plug up as it doesn't show my device is plugged up! any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just send your eBooks to your Kindle via USB. It works better. That way you can keep WiFi off and get longer between charges.

i tried that and it doesnt even register that the kindle is there? am i doing something wrong

I assume WINDOWS? (please always tell us what OS and version when asking about file issues).
Windows (and others) Must see the device (in explorer...) before Calibre has a chance.
Fix that. Common problems:
Anti Virus / security blocking.
Using a 'charge' (only) usb cord (these don't have data wires, only 5V), bad/disabled USB port (use device manager to see if any USB has issues)
Bad device (port) that still allows charging.
Note: (some?)recent Android come up in Charge only. You must THEN, enable File Transfer mode... This is not sticky and must be done every connection (USB options on the device)

Linux only supports 1 USB MTP device at a time,

What model of Kindle do you have? Paperwhite? Oasis? Voyage? Basic? Scribe?

Please note that if you have a colour tablet, it is a Fire not a Kindle (Amazon dropped the Kindle Fire name close to a decade back).
