after the firmware update, my Aura One no longer opens pdfs. it just crashes and reboots. i’ve tried repairing account, restoring to factory settings, checked database via calibre. all to no avail. this happens with pdfs no matter how small, and both with pdfs loaded within and without calibre. very frustrating. oddly, no such problem on my Aura. bizarre.

Has anyone heard whether the newest update resolves the ClaraHD and Clara2e's tendency to freeze its screen without cause or warning?

I've not seen that on my Clara HD on 4.35 or 4.37.

If both the 2E and HD are freezing it might be an issue with a specific book. My Clara HD has never frozen up.

Interesting observation that it might be a specific book. My wife has a ClaraHD and I have a 2E that are a few months old and they both freeze periodically. There's a related thread on Reddit.

Good grief. Quite a few have had issues with this. I guess I've been lucky.

I’m afraid not. I’ve had my Clara HD freeze then reboot twice now since the firmware upgrade to 4.37.x.

Would it be that case if you are on the Home Screen? That’s where mine froze last night. It seems to be a random event, not linked to any particular book or action. And just with my Clara HD, not my Elipsa. They have the same books for the most part.

My daughter’s Clara HD last froze and rebooted a few weeks ago, so hers seems to be more stable than mine.

I can’t believe how many of those Redditors toss their Kobo Claras into a drawer when they freeze. The OP returned his! I realize that dealing with Kobo can be like

but eReaders aren’t cheap. Also, I’m stubborn. I’ll be darned if I’m going to let a frozen eReader get the best of me!

I wish I had taken a note when this problem began, but most firmware updates these days cause my Clara HD to freeze during installation. That means the screen may be frozen on the three dots or a blank screen, and the white light blinks forever. I usually give it ten minutes (interrupting a firmware update can cause its own issues), press and hold on the power button until the Kobo powers off, wait a few moments, then power the Kobo back on. Each time, the installation finishes without further problems.

However, I still get random freezes on random screens doing random actions. I know it’s happening when my Clara HD stops responding, and then I noticed that the white light is blinking.

Since firmware update my wishlist has started constantly refreshing every few seconds, wont scroll (sometimes comes up with message undating wishlist) and then the device resets. I have tried siging out and then back in but that has not sorted the problem

Hello,

First time user here, I am remko, hi!

I just updated to the named firmware friday and needed to charge it yesterday already as it was empty. Currently from this morning until now i lost in ~10hours 38% charge. This did not happen on the previous firmware.

Does others notice this as well? Any tips that i can use to get it back? (I will try to make a backup of the onboard SD card and factory reset it?)

Check if the database is corrupt or not using calibre with Kobo Utilities.

I've not experienced any freezes with my Clara2E.

Like I never had any firmware update problem with any Kobo ever.

I'm always amazed to read that some people have problems.
