I've been watching Manifest now that I know it's been wrapped up. It's quite cheesy (and utterly predictable), but still fun for me. I've always been a sucker for grand conspiracy stories. Only fictional ones though. I have zero tolerance for "real" world ones, strangely enough.

I watched the final episode of Happy Valley a little while ago. Sunday I watched episode 2 of Endeavor. There is only one episode left.
I watched the first two episodes of season 2 of And Just Like That (Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis from Sex and the City). There is a lot that I don't like about this show, especially the new characters that have all taken on their own tiresome plots. To offset this, I started re-watching Sex and the City and am in season 2. All on Max (formerly HBO Max). |

I'm always amazed by how quickly people are ready to dip back into the well these days. I'm not certain I'm even willing to try a Justified sans Walt Goggins, Margo Martindale, Nick Searcy and Jere Burns. And those are just the ones off the top of my head! |

It's a limited series, so...y'know, probably 6 epis or the like. IDK if this helps: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14263564/ Y'know, the whole "how quickly people dip back into the well" shows a complete and utter lack of creativity in Hollyweird, for one thing; that the accountants are in charge of decisions, rather than some of the creatives; and that people like what they like. It's why episodic story-arc TV exists, anyway--I mean, whether it's Miami Vice or whatever, people want "new stories" each episode or week--but they also want to know what to expect. To be fair to the writers, I guess it's a bit of a high-wire act for them, to be new yet familiar at the same time. I'm just hoping that the daughter character won't do to this what the Maddie character did (IMHO) to that last season or two of (real) Bosch. When I want crooks and baddies, that's what I want--not the emo ramblings of some tweedy girl. But then again, I'm not the person making the showrunning choices for all these things at these various and sundry networks, stations and so forth. Hitch |

Limited Series does help a bit, yes. There was never much of Elmore Leonard's Raylan Givens in the original show to begin with (in my opinion), so I'll not worry about "canon," but I never like to see these "revisits" after shows were wrapped up so neat and tidily.

Just finished a binge watch of Lie To Me - somehow Tim Roth's incessant snarkiness didn't bother me too much. Totally implausible story lines - but some interesting plot twists.

This is the flipside, of the "streaming" thing. Storylines, plotlines, characters, etc. that didn't bother you, once every 7 days or so, make you insane when you watch 3 epis in a row or the like. I just experienced this with the new Fr. Brown. I think it gets to pretty much all of us. Hitch |

BTW, dunno if I'm the only idiot that missed that there was a new season, etc. but if anybody here watched the Game Warden show on Paramount Plus, it's back with a new season. Kit Something or other.
Now...that's the good news. The bad news is that I started fast-forwarding through it, about 30 minutes in, to the beginning of Episode 2 (this season). I then just sorta shrugged, and moved on to a rewatch of Warrior, Season 2, (MAX, f/k/a HBO and/or HBO Max) preparatory to their new season (3) this week. IMHO, it's hard to watch a character be that d*mned repetitively stupid. (Can't recall if that show name is Warrior, singular, or Warriors, plural, but it's the Barbary Coast-era show, set in SF, Asian community, etc. The Kwai Chang Caine, "Kung Fu" [David Carridine] the 21st Century show. I was ruminating last night that it's kind of a shame that Bruce Lee isn't alive--nor his son!--to see it, given it was his pitch, his idea, in the first place.) Hitch |
