The forum search is terrible, but I think I suggested it.
My thought was selecting specific columns (with a dropdown list or a dialog full of checkboxes) to update specifically. This would be in place of constantly toggling 'new only' in the settings. |

Add books:adding actions has the ability to 'Tag' (I assume a normal tag) the action. Does a plugin have access to that option?

You were the one to suggest it. And yeah a dialog full of checkboxes that you could choose from was what I was thinking. So it wasn't exactly one, but exactly the ones you wanted. Not a new update mode exactly, but an option on the update popup that could be selected. So the choice would work with the various update modes. Even when updating an epub, though maybe the word and chapter counts along with last updated would be greyed out as they would update regardless?
But my coding knowledge isn't applicable here so I have no idea how possible/plausible this would be. I'm just spitballing ideas. |

Yes, any fic update triggers the page-count plugin.

If you are asking: Does Calibre's "Tags to apply when adding a book" setting apply when downloading a new story in FFF? ...then the answer appears to be yes; I just tried it. If you are asking: Is it possible for a plugin to read (aka access) Calibre's "Tags to apply when adding a book" setting? ...I would assume so; but I don't know how off hand, nor why you would ask here. |

Your first reply. I don't read FF (anymore), so I was curious on why a user needed a custom column, when a Tag and Search (or VL) would do to find updated FF.
(I'm of the lean mean school, so adding a column when a built in feature can do get the task done, is not something I would suggest without lots of other reasons) Lean Mean Book Managing Machine ![]() |

But we'll see if more people speak up. It's a bit debatable whether the Update metadata only modes should launch Count Pages or not. I can see different users expecting it to go either way. (I don't use Count Pages--I pulled word count inside FFF when I realized CP calls Calibre routines for it.) It appears to have been a deliberate design choice, since the sections before(add to unread list) and after(auto-convert) the call to launch Count Pages both apply only to 'real' updates. A new checkbox on the Count Pages tab of FFF config for 'Apply when updating metadata only' is something I would entertain if people would find it useful. |

I think you misunderstood. FandomWitch was talking about updating the value of a custom column with fic information, rather than using it to keep track of fic updates.

Issue with a story on QuestionableQuesting
Hi,
First time posting there so first of all thank you for the amazing work you and other contributors have done. I have been using FFF as a plugin for Calibre for a couple years now and it is great! I have read the FAQ and tried searching on the forum and I think I have an issue that as not been addressed already: When trying to download With this Ring on QuestionableQuesting FFF will only download posts that have a threadmark however the author makes a post every day and only adds a threadmark when a new chapter begins. So in the end the resulting epub only contains the first ~20% of each chapter. (it actually took me an embarrassing 5 chapters to realise that it wasn't just one of those stories that starts with a confusing sequence of flashes :D) (https://forum.questionablequesting.c...ory-only.8961/) In an attempt to see if I could easily fix that I forked the code and had a look. And I cannot :p Please feel free to disregards/burn my ideas but I think the solution must come in two parts. First there need to be a way to toggle that new behaviour on or off. Then FFF needs to be able to find and download all the relevant posts. I think there are multiple ways to achieve this: For the toggling either a tag in the book metadatas or more simply adding a parameter in the url like (?only_tm=False) Then for finding the relevant posts I think both toggling methods would enable a choice between "get every post by the author" or "get every post in the thread" Thanks again for everything, I hope this is something that you think is doable and useful enough to be included in a future update :) |

One Character in Ship always first
Okay I have searched the forum and haven't been able to find a solution. And my basic knowledge of regex and experimentation hasn't worked. Is there a way to have a specific character always be the first one listed in a ship. I would prefer to not have to use alphabetical, like really prefer not to.
So have it do something like this, but not have to write out every possible ship. Code:
ships=>9th Doctor & Rose Tyler & Jack Harkness=>Rose Tyler & 9th Doctor & Jack Harkness ships=>9th Doctor/Rose Tyler=>Rose Tyler/9th Doctor ships=>10th Doctor/Rose Tyler=>Rose Tyler/10th Doctor |
