Agreed. But the Canyon is roomy enough not to even see the odd human lump catapulted in. The local fauna would have a tasty treat as their reward for cleaning up the evidence. AND there'd be a smaller percentage of people in existence that do not use their turn signal.

We could even dress the guilty in camo before serving the justice of the trebuchet upon them.

When the trebuchet is free, can we use it on DMV staffers? It would seem to be appropriate, as trebuchets are designed to throw rocks, and the DMV staffers I've had to deal with this week are as dumb as. Their stereotype is remarkably accurate and well-deserved.

I work for my local county. Not the DMV but, let me tell you, ours is constantly hiring because they pay so little. You can make more working in fast food than at our DMV! No wonder they can't keep any competent staff.

Here in the northeast (US) I'm pretty tolerant of the heat. I lived in Connecticut for several years in an apartment with a wall mounted air conditioner. I only turned it on once a year, to make sure it was still working. Here in NJ I never used an air conditioner until I got married.

However, what I did have was a dehumidifier. I can handle the heat, but when it's hot and humid I tend to melt.

These days I'm not really allowed to mess with the thermostat.

We've had an eventful morning, although it started Wednesday evening.

I heard a cat meowing and looking down in the yard and between all the vines and weeds was a cat. Another cat was sitting on the wall, so I assumed the cat in the yard was chased. After a while the meowing stopped, so I figured the cat had climbed out.

Once or twice a year a cat ends up in our yard, since it's so overgrown (those vines have thorns) we can't just go in there and get the cat. But they always manage to climb out (three sides of the yard are building and one is a 3 meter high wall).

Last night I heard meowing again, didn't see a cat, but I went down and rattled with a bowl of dry food, no cat. I left the yard door open and the food in the door opening. This morning the food was gone and I heard a meowing at the back of the house. I closed the door and took the young cat to the store with me. It was a sweetheart, very cuddly and very hungry.

Since we can't really access our yard we aren't able to get a ladder and put the cat on the wall again. So we asked the offices next door if we could let the cat out in their yard; their flat roof is partially build against the wall and there's a fire escape stairs. The gave us permission, but when we let the cat out she immediately wanted to go down the wall again in our yard. One employee remembered seeing a note of a missing cat somewhere nearby, so she went out to take a picture.

Meanwhile my mother had found the cat, Vodka, on a site of an organization for missing pets, they don't list phone numbers so you have to contact them. They would call the owner. Shortly after the lady came back and it was Vodka on the note, and game me the name and number of the owner. When I called upstairs to let my mother know the phone number Vodkas owner came in. Vodka lives around the corner, I suspect in one of the two student homes above a restaurant (with that name she was either from a café or restaurant or students). So luckily we didn't have to go to the vet to see if she had a chip.

I've put the owners phone number in my phone, it wouldn't surprise me if Vodka pays us another visit. Though he should give her a collar with a name tag or airtag. She had been missing for 8 days, though she must have been fed, since she wasn't very thin.

Brother, I am right there with ya. I'm not even walking here yet and I'm hurting in a hundred billion places today. After all that cruddy illness, this past 5-6 months, OMG, I am in the worst shape of my life. A total softbelly scrawn. It blows.

Tell me about it!! OTOH, it beats the alternative. I think?

I used to swim every day, but a shoulder repetitive stress injury means that alternative is out. Permanently. And everything else is more stress on the artificial knee. But mostly? It's just old age.

Young-onset Parkinson's has utterly messed up any semblance of temperature regulation I have.

Putting a damp washcloth in the freezer for a few minutes and putting it on the neck is my go-to.

One of the things I most look forward to each summer is swimming every day (there's no good option the rest of the year). The outdoor pool at the local university opened two weeks ago, and just today, as I was dragging myself up and down the lap lanes, I thought to myself, "Huh. I used to think this was fun." Sigh.

I still think it's going to be fun, but I'm not there yet. Thank goodness for my waterproof MP3 player, because it's keeping me going. At least I've got something to distract me.

Exactly how many of my past injuries (that I was under the impression I had fully recovered from) are going to pop by for a reunion as time moves ever onward?

Ayup. Every. single. freaking.one. I have knees that ache, (no synovial fluid left under the kneecaps) shoulders that are so painful some afternoons that I have to break out Dragon Nat Speaking, to (remotely) finish my workday; a spine with arthritis that just won't let me stay in bed for any normal sleeping period at night.

All of this--and some I'm not even bothering to mention--from a woman that worked out 3-5x weekly, every week of pretty much her entire adult life. Mostly aerobic, low-impact work, with some lifting and pilates-type-core work, planking (lots) but that never stopped me from blowing out not one but TWO knees; (to be fair, the right one was done when I was swept illegally in a kick-boxing match...but the other popped on a stair climber, when I was just puttering along), coming down with frozen shoulder (yup, you guessed it, both shoulders over the course of a year), repetitive motion injuries (mousing), and let's see...oh, yea. Oh, don't get me started about the 9 billion broken toes, which now break if they think they hear a crispy water cracker being broken in half. It's so freaking irritating.

Aging sucks in ways that they never warned us about, that's dem facts. We all are guilty of it--we tell ourselves that we're gonna "age gracefully" nad the total BS about that is, "aging gracefully" means...yup, you got it, NOT BL**DY AGING. So now, not only do we bl**dy look old, all the crap under the surface is creaky too.

Hear them! They speak from the same experience as I do. The only thing that's good about old age is that it isn't, quite, dead. And at some point, even that becomes a fairly mixed blessing.

OTOH, I still enjoy what I can do, even if it's not all I'd like to do. So...
