If the sole purpose of this thread is so that people can watch it to be notified of new DeDRM releases, then shouldn't it be locked so that it's guaranteed to never receive new posts unless a moderator announces a new DeDRM version?

The fact that this thread has over 1000 posts suggests that is not actually how it's used, so a new locked thread should be created for that purpose, and then people who don't want to be bothered by random DeDRM chat can watch that thread, instead of this one.

One way to reliably be notified of new releases is to set a watch at the GitHub repo. You can set specifically to just notify you of new releases.

Wow. That was the first attempt to support calibre 5 and still had a ways to go in many areas. For a new setup with calibre 6 or if you need to change any of DeDRM's configurations, you'd need DeDRM 10.0.3.

There's been a commit to the official source code yesterday. "Fix python2 issues in Kindle and Nook code (#355)"

This has not been made part of this unofficial version. So I would not use this version until updated with the latest code from the official code-base.

Your choice, as always, but I needed to clean an ebook that I'd had for a while and wanted to read, and the method worked.

Also, strike while the iron's hot! (In other words, before there's a change to the drm)

Further, I've been following the chat re Sat's efforts on github

On another point, if an updated file becomes available I'll avail myself of that.

I don't think Jon's an expert on this. Be careful, yes. But everyone should use their own judgement. The owner of the new fork has had code committed to noDRM's repository. The missing commit Jon's referring to would only affect those using WINE.
