Are you using optimizeLegibility or geometricPrecision for ligatures? (I'm still not sure what the difference is.)

Here is my setup on my Libra 2 With the official sleepcover (which I sometimes take off if I'm reading for a long while) I almost always use Bookerly font, chapter title and pages left in chapter up top, % left in book on the bottom (when the book title isn't super long...), left justification, and NickelClock in the upper left so I can always see the time. I also always have the warm light about ~75% between cool and warm light, and brightness usually 5-10% depending on time of day |

I use geometricPrecision. I used to use optimizeLegibility, before geometricPrecision came along. optimizeLegibility messes with the word spacing much more than geometricPrecision does. Both enable ligatures. To be honest, I don't know what the advantages of optimizeLegibility are, but I'm sure there are some.

Here's my setup, my case is a bit beat up looking, but still does its job. This book has publisher fonts, so it's not 100% my usual configuration, but it looks close. Last edited by twowheels; 06-21-2023 at 12:12 PM. |

I always choose this background, even at night. I cannot read a book with a dark background, for surfing it works.

Here's my setup. Right now my font size is extremely large, mostly because my eyes are extremely irritated from the pollen in the air. I generally read at 8, sometimes 7 without my glasses. (I usually only wear my glasses when sitting at the computer) With my glasses, I can go down to 4, but I'm more comfortable at 6. The large font size is one of the reasons that I like to have it left justified (ragged right), so that I don't get the "rivers" of space between the words. I also like margins and a little space between lines--I have a very hard time reading the wall of words (my opinion only) that some of you prefer. Now that I think about it, the large size of the font may be one of the reasons that I prefer buttons. Since I turn the page every 10 seconds or so, having to swipe or move my finger over to tap gets annoying. Imagine having to go back to reading only paper books!! I don't think that I would do as much reading as I do, because I would *always* have to wear my glasses to read. (that's not to mention the portability and lack of weight of e-readers compared to books) We're so lucky to have all of the options that we do, and we even have the luxury of discussing who's settings are better!
