You don't say where you are getting the "added date" so I used calibre's 'date' field. This rule colors the title column red if the calibre date is in 2023.

Take a look at the image in the message from @chaley.

Pay special attention to the two lines starting with Date (timestamp) after the line that says Only if the following conditions are all satisfied.

The first conditions says if the date is after 2022-12-31, the second condition says if the date is before 2024-01-01. So basically, if the date is from 2023-01-01 to 2023-12-31, the column will get the colour.

Thanks for your reply and please excuse me (as I am almost 86)- I don't see anything after setting colour " if the date is after 2022-12-31 or if the date is before 2023-12-31 ?
Not sure how to enter these parameters

Regards
Leslie

After selecting the column to be coloured (e.g. Title), and a colour
  1. Click on the "If the" box and select a column on which to base decision (e.g. "Date (timestamp)")
  2. Click on the "column" box and select condition (e.g. "is later than")
  3. In the third box enter a date in yyyy-mm-dd format (e.g. 2022-12-31)
  4. Click "Add another condition"
  5. Repeat steps 1-3 but select "is earlier than" and enter 2024-01-01
  6. Click OK

The hyphens are 'pre-positioned' as a guide, so you have to sort of type around them - So:

type '2022'; the cursor should now be after the first hyphen,
type '12'; the cursor should now be after the second hyphen,
type '31'.

There are times when software can be helpful to the point of being a hindrance.

I give up - this must be the most unfriendly program available - every entry is now RED - You say type 2022 but the third box won't let me do this as I can only enter the various options given and can't type the 2022 or anyting else

The entries enforce data types. (Red means something wrong)

The first box Must be a date/timestamp TYPE COLUMN for you to enter date type range values. The value should be in YYYY-MM-DD

You must select/enter the three values in order - the name of the column, the condition to apply, and any required value - the only conditions that allow a yyyy-mm-dd date value are: is earlier than, or is later than.

Update - Not sure why but restarting Calibre gave me the options of entering the appropriate dates which previously it didn't. It is now fixed and the only thing I now have to do is to changr the fonts to a larger size
