I hate it when I already own a ebook I bought years ago and when I see it again the buy now button is lit up like I don’t own it. I think it happens when the publisher changes or they simply reissue it with a new cover. Case in point, Pushing Ice. I have to always check my library and see if I already own it before purchasing as I cannot rely on my memory lol.

No, it's edition 1.1, bought as a single ebook.

I read Milan saying something about the publisher owning the rights to the basic books, but that she had kept the rights to republish enhanced editions herself. So for those early books, she could republish them only if she added enough bonus material. I assume that's the reason for those MP3s.

I think there's two different editions of Pushing Ice by different publishers, if its the book I'm thinking of.

A different book I purchased on Kobo got re-issued by a different publisher. It sometimes shows up in my Kobo recommendations.

I keep seeing the word 'unputdownable' in book descriptions. Every time, I think that it doesn't look like a real word. (It is in the M-W dictionary though.)

OpenRoad is really bad about reissuing books. Just yesterday, I was looking at some early James Ellroy books with these need pulp inspired covers and Amazon says I don't own any of them. But I do. Just with the older covers. (Though to be fair, the books moved from Open Road to Vintage, so at least I understand the confusion.)

Yes, this is the "nuclear option". But you don't need to de-DRM anything.

I think it would also only work with ePub.
